Allow the stove to cool before performing anymaintenanceorcleaning. Ashesmustbedisposedinametalcontainerwithatightfittinglid.Theclosedcontainer of ashes should be placed on a non-combustiblesurfaceorontheground,wellawayfrom

Theexhaustsystemshouldbecheckedmonthlyduringtheburningseasonforanybuild-upofsootorcreosote.

Donottouchthehotsurfacesofthestove.Educateallchildrenon thedangers of a high-temperature stove.Youngchildrenshouldbesupervisedwhentheyareinthesameroomasthestove.

Thehopperandstovetopwillbehotduringoperation;therefore, you should alwaysuse some typeof handprotectionwhenrefuelingyourstove.

Apowersurgeprotectorisrequired.Thisunitmustbeplugged intoa110 -120V,60Hzgroundedelectricaloutlet.Donotuseanadapterplugorseverthegroundingplug.Donotroutetheelectricalcordunderneath,infrontof,orovertheheater.Donotroutethecordinfoottrafficareasorpinchthecordunderfurniture.

Theheaterwillnotoperateduringapoweroutage.Ifapoweroutagedoesoccur,checktheheaterforsmokespillageandopenawindowifanysmokespillsintotheroom.

The feed doormust be closed and sealed duringoperation.

Neverblockfreeairflowthroughtheopenventsoftheunit.

• SootandFlyash:FormationandNeed forRemoval–Theproductsofcombustionwillcontainsmallparticlesofflyash.Theflyashwillcollectintheexhaustventingsystemandrestricttheflowofthefluegases.Incompletecombustion,suchasoccursduringstartup,shutdown,or incorrect operation of the roomheaterwill lead tosomesoot formationwhichwill collect in theexhaustventing system.The exhaust venting system shouldbe inspectedat leastonceeveryyear todetermine ifcleaningisnecessary.

FLOOr PrOTECTiONThisunitmustbeinstalledonanon-combustiblefloorsurface.Ifafloorpadisused,itshouldbeULlistedorequal.Thefloorpadornon-combustiblesurfaceshouldbelargeenoughtoextendaminimumof6in.(152.4mm)infront,6in.(152.4mm)oneachside,and1in.(25.4mm)behindthestove(seeFIGURE2).

Floorprotectionmustextendunderand2in.(50.8mm)toeachsideofthechimneyteeforaninteriorverticalinstallation(seeFIGURE2).

Yourpelletstovewillneedaminimum31”(787mm)x38”(965mm)floorprotector.

AFloorProtectorof1inch(25.4mm)thickisrecommendedforthisinstallation.

Canadianinstallationsrequire18”(450mm)infrontoftheunit.

Thefollowinginstallationguidelinesmustbefollowedtoensureconformitywithboththesafetylistingofthisstoveandtolocalbuildingcodes.Donotusemakeshiftmethodsorcompromiseintheinstallation.

IMPORTANT! Thisunitisequippedwithanegativedraftsystemthatpullsairthroughtheburnpotandpushestheexhaustoutofthedwelling.Ifthisunitisconnectedtoafluesystemotherthanthewayex-plainedinthismanual,itwillnotfunctionproperly.

MAXiMuM vENTiNg diSTANCEInstallationMUSTincludeatleast3-feetofverticalpipeoutsidethehome.Thiswillcreatesomenaturaldrafttoreducethepossibilityofsmokeorodorduringapplianceshutdownandkeepexhaustfromcausinganuisanceorhazardbyexposingpeopleorshrubstohightemperatures.Themaximumrecommendverticalventingheightis12-feetfor3-inchtype“PL”vent.TotallengthofhorizontalventMUSTNOTexceed4-feet.Thiscouldcausebackpressure.Usenomorethan180degreesofelbows(two90-degreeelbows,ortwo45-degreeandone90-degreeelbow,etc.)tomaintainadequatedraft.

PELLET vENT TyPEAULlisted3-inchor4-inchtype“PL”pelletventexhaustsystemmustbeusedforinstallationandattachedtothepipeconnectorprovidedonthebackofthestove(usea3-inchto4-inchadapterfor4-inchpipe).ConnectionatbackofstovemustbesealedusingHi-TempRTV.Use4-inchventiftheventheightisover12-feetoriftheinstallationisover2,500feetabovesealevel.

WerecommendtheuseofSimpsonDura-Vent® or Metal-Fab®pipe(ifyouuseotherpipe,consultyourlocalbuildingcodesand/orbuildinginspectors).DonotuseType-BGasVentpipeorgalvanizedpipewiththisunit.Thepelletventpipeisdesignedtodisassembleforcleaningandshouldbecheckedseveraltimesduringtheburningseason.Pelletventpipeisnotfurnishedwiththeunitandmustbepurchasedseparately.

PELLET vENT iNSTALLATiONTheinstallationmustincludeaclean-outteetoenablecollectionofflyashandtopermitperiodiccleaningoftheexhaustsystem.90-degreeelbowsaccumulateflyashandsoottherebyreducingexhaustflowandperformanceofthestove.Eachelboworteereducesdraftpotentialby30%to50%.

Alljointsintheventsystemmustbefastenedbyatleast3screws,andalljointsmustbesealedwithHi-TempRTVsiliconesealanttobeairtight.Theareawheretheventpipepenetratestotheexteriorofthehomemustbesealedwithsiliconeorothermeanstomaintainthevaporbarrierbetweentheexteriorandtheinteriorofthehome.

Ventsurfacescangethotenoughtocauseburnsiftouchedbychildren.Noncombustibleshieldingorguardsmayberequired.

PELLET vENT TErMiNATiONDonotterminatetheventinanenclosedorsemi-enclosedarea,suchas;carport,garage,attic,crawlspace,underasundeckorporch,narrowwalkway,oranyotherlocationthatcanbuildupaconcentrationoffumes.

Theterminationmustexhaustabovetheoutsideairinletelevation.

Theterminationmustnotbelocatedwhereitwillbecomepluggedbysnoworothermaterials.

Do not terminate the venting into an existing steel or masonry chimney.

ThrOugh ThE WALL iNSTALLATiON (RECOMMENDEDINSTALLATION)CanadianinstallationsmustconformtoCAN/CSA-B365.

Toventtheunitthroughthewall,connectthepipeadaptertotheexhaustmotoradapter.Iftheexhaustadapterisatleast18in.(457mm)abovegroundlevel,astraightsectionofpelletventpipecanbeusedthroughthewall.

Your heater dealer should be able to provide youwithakit thatwill handlemostof this installation,whichwillincludeawallthimblethatwillallowtheproperclearancethroughacombustiblewall.Onceoutside thestructure,a3in.(76mm)clearanceshouldbemaintainedfromtheoutsidewallandacleanoutteeshouldbeplacedonthepipewitha90-degreeturnawayfromthehouse.Atthispoint,a3ft(0.91m)(minimum)sectionofpipeshouldbeaddedwithahorizontal cap,whichwouldcomplete theinstallation(seeFIGURE7).

A support bracket should be placed just below thetermination cap or one every 4ft (1.22m) tomake thesystemmorestable.Ifyouliveinanareathathasheavysnowfall,itisrecommendedthattheinstallationbetallerthan3ft(0.91m)togetabovethesnowdriftline.Thissameinstallationcanbeusedifyourheaterisbelowgroundlevelbysimplyaddingtheclean-outsectionandverticalpipeinsideuntilgroundlevelisreached.Withthisinstallationyouhavetobeawareofthesnowdriftline,deadgrass,andleaves.Werecommenda3ft(0.91m)minimumverticalriseontheinsideoroutsideofthehouse.

The“throughthewall”installationistheleastexpensiveandsimplestinstallation.Neverterminatetheendventunderadeck,inanalcove,underawindow,orbetweentwowindows.WerecommendSimpsonDura-Vent® or Metal-Fab®kits.

ThrOugh ThE rOOF/CEiLiNg iNSTALLATiONWhenventingtheheaterthroughtheceiling,thepipeisconnectedthesameasthroughthewall,excepttheclean-outteeisalwaysontheinsideofthehouse,anda3in.(76mm)adapterisaddedbeforetheclean-outtee.

Youmustusetheproperceilingsupportflangesandroofflashing(suppliedbythepipemanufacturer;followthepipemanufacturer’sdirections).Itisimportanttonotethatifyourverticalrunofpipeismorethan15ft(4.57m),thepelletventpipesizeshouldbeincreasedto4in.(102mm)indiameter.

Donotexceedmorethan4ft(1.22m)ofpipeonahorizontalrunanduseasfewelbowsaspossible.Ifanoffsetisrequired,itisbettertoinstall45-degreeelbowsratherthan90-degreeelbows.

Metalpipe(solidorflexible)mustbeusedfortheoutsideairinstallation.PVCpipeisNOTapprovedandshouldNEVERbeused.

Awindshieldovertheterminationoftheoutsideairpipeora90-degreeelboworbendawayfromtheprevailingwindsMUSTbeusedwhenanoutsideairpipeisinstalledthroughthesideofabuilding.TheoutsideairterminationMUSTbeatleast1ft(0.305m)awayfromtheexhaustsystemtermination.

Theoutsideairpipeonyour heateris2”(50.8mm)OD.Theoutsideairconnectingpipemustbeatleast2”(50.8mm)ID.TheoutsideairconnectionusedMUSTNOTrestricttheamountofairavailabletoyourheater.Theoutsideairconnectingpipemustbeasshortandfreeofbendsaspossible,anditmustfitover,notinside,theoutsideairconnectionto the heater.

In addition to the previously detailed installation requirements,mobile home installationsmustmeet the followingrequirements:

• Theheatermustbepermanentlyattachedtothefloor.

• Theheatermustbeelectricallygroundedtothesteelchassisofthemobilehomewith8GAcopperwireusingaserratedorstarwashertopenetratepaintorprotectivecoatingtoensuregrounding.

• Ventmustbe3or4-inch“PL”Ventandmustextendaminimumor36in.(914mm)abovetherooflineofthemobilehomeandmustbeinstalledusingaULlistedceilingfirestopandraincap.

• Whenmovingyourmobilehome,allexteriorventingmustberemovedwhilethemobilehomeisbeingrelocated.Afterrelocation,allventingmustbereinstalledandsecurelyfastened.

• OutsideAirismandatoryformobilehomeinstallation.Seeyourdealerforpurchasing.

• Checkwithyourlocalbuildingofficialsasothercodesmayapply.

How your stove worksYourpelletstoveutilizesainclinedaugerfuelfeedsystemthatisoperatedbyamicroprocessorcontrolleddigitalcircuitboard.Thedigitalcircuitboardallowstheinclinedaugerfuelfeedsystemtoruninatimer-based,non-continuouscycle;thiscyclingallowstheaugertorunforapredeterminedperiodofseconds.Theaugerpushespelletsupachutelocatedatthefront/bottomofthehopperwhichinturnfallsthroughanotherchuteintotheburnpot.Yourstoveisequippedwithanautomaticignitionsystemthatshouldignitethefuelwithin5-10minutesfrompressingtheONbutton.Aspelletsentertheburnpotandignite,outsideairisdrawnacrossthefuelandheatedduringthecombustionprocesswhichisthenpulledthroughtheheatexchangerbytheexhaustmotorordraftfan.Asthestoveheatsup,roomairiscirculatedaroundtheheatexchangerbymeansofaroomairblower,distributingwarmairintotheroom.

Theamountofheatproducedbythestoveisproportionaltotherateofthefuelthatisburned,andthisrateiscontrolledbythe“HEATRANGE”setting.Inordertomaintaincombustionofthefuelatadesiredrate,theairprovidedtotheburnchamberbytheexhaustordraftfanmustbemaintainedprecisely.Toolittleairwillresultinaflamethatisnon-energeticorlazy.Ifthefuelcontinuestoflowwithtoolittleairforlongenough,theburnpotwillfillwithtoomuchfuelandthefirewillsmotherout.Tomuchairwillresultinaflamethatisoveractiveoraggressive.Theflameinthissituationistypicallyveryblueatthebottomandresemblesablowtorch.Ifthissituationcontinues,thefuelintheburnpotwillbeconsumedandthefirewillgoout.

Matchingtheamountofairrequiredforpropercombustiontothefuelrateistheprimaryobjectiveineffectivelyburningpelletsofvariousbrandsandqualitiesinyourstove.Theairtofuelratiocanbeadjustedtoallowalmostanyfuelqualitytoburneffectivelybyfollowingtheproceduresdetailedintheremainderofthismanual.

Becauseaforceddraftpressureisrequiredforthecombustionprocessinsideyourstove,itisextremelyimportantthattheexhaustsystembeproperlyinstalledandmaintained.And,thatwhenoperatingyourstove,youmakesurethattheviewingdoorisproperlysealed.

TurningtheheaterON/OFF,aswellasadjustmentsforthefuelfeedrateandroomfanspeedareperformedbypressingtheappropriatebutton(s)onthecontrolpanelwhichislocatedonthelowerleft-handsideofyourheater.Thisunitcanbechangedbetweenanautomaticoperationoramanualoperation.Thecontrollercomesdefaultintheautomaticmode.

• ON/OFF Pressingthe“ON”buttononthecontrolpanelwillbeginthestart-upsequencefortheheater.Fuelwillbegintofeed

throughtheaugerfeedsystemthenigniteafterapproximately5minutes. Pressingthe“OFF”buttononthecontrolpanelwillcausetheheatertoenteritsshut-downsequence.Thefuelfeed

systemwillstoppullingfuelfromthehopperand,oncethefiregoesoutandtheheatercoolsdown,thefanswillstoprunning.

willoperateatpresetintervalsunlesschangedmanuallyusingthebuttonsmentionedabove.Wheninmanualmode,thedraftfan(exhaust)willoperateatfullspeed(100%).

Duringnormaloperation,theunitisconstantlymonitoredforproblems.Intheeventofanerrorcondition,theunitwillstopandanerrorwillbedisplayed.Seethelistoferrorcodesfoundattheendofthismanual.

Control Panel Overview

uNiT PrEPArATiONAftercarefullyunpackingandreadingtheinstructionsforinstallingyourstove,youwillneedtoperformthefollowingsteps:

• Attachtheincludedspringhandletothedoorhandlebyscrewingitoninarespectivelocation.

• Attachtheelectricalcordtothebackofthestovefirst;thenplugitintoa110-voltoutlet(anoutletsurgeprotectorishighlyrecommended).

PErFOrMiNg AN iNiTiAL TESTThistestisusedatthefactorywherethestovesareassembledtotestthefunctionalityofthecontrolandthestovebeforetheunitisshipped.Toperformthistest,pressandholdtheOFFandAUGERDELAYbuttonssimultaneouslyfor3seconds.Toadvancethroughthetest,pressanykeyunlessotherwisenotedintheteststep.1. ExhaustFanOutputTest–Thedisplaywillshow“drft”.Theexhaustfanisturnedonfullthenreducedtoaleveljust

abovethetypicalminimumpressureswitchsetting.TheONLEDindicateswhetherthepressuresensorisdetected.Ifthepressureswitchisnotdetected,thefanrampstofullonfortwosecondsthenreturnstothepreviouslyestablishedlevelifthepressureswitchcloses.IftheDraftFanFuseisnotblownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning,theDraftFanLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDswillbeoff.

2. RoomFanOutputTest-Thedisplaywillshow“rfan”.Theroomfanisturnedonfull.IftheRoomFanFuseisnotblownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning,theRoomFanLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDswill be off.

3. IgnitorOutputTest-Thedisplaywillshow“ignt”.Theignitormotoristurnedonfull.IftheIgnitor(AUX)Fuseisnotblownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning,theAuxLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDswillbeoff.

4. AugerOutputTest-Thedisplaywillshow“augr”.Theaugermotoristurnedonfull.IftheAugerFuseisnotblownandthefusedetectioncircuitisfunctioning,theHeatRangeLEDwillbelitandtheotherthreetoprowLEDswillbeoff.

5. HopperSwitchTest–Thedisplaywillshow“hppr”.The“ON”LEDislit.Ifthehopperswitchisopen(lidisopen),the“HEATRANGE”LEDwillturnon.Ifthelidisclosed,the“HEATRANGE”LEDwillbeoff.

6. ThermostatInputTest–Thedisplaywillshow“stat”.Ifthethermostat inputisclosed,theONLEDwill turnon,otherwiseitwillbeoff.

7. FluegasThermistorTest–ThedisplaywillshowthefluegastemperatureindegreesF.8. ACFrequencyTest-DisplaysthemeasuredACFrequencyinhertz(59-60)followedbytheletter‘H’.9. WatchdogReset–Thewatchdogtimeristestedtoensurethattheboardcanbereset.Themessage“BYE”is

displayeduntilthewatchdogresetstheboard.

PErFOrMiNg A “dry ruN”Performa“dryrun”onyourstovepriortomakingtheexhaust/inletconnectionsandstartingyourstoveforthefirsttime.

1. CheckthatthereisNOfuelorANYforeignmaterialinthehopperorburn-pot.

2. Checkthattheviewingdoorandhopperlidissecurelyclosed.

3. Pressthe“ON”buttononthecontrolpanel.VerifythattheONLEDislit(blinking)andthedisplayshowsHR-1.AlsotheLEDabovetheHEATRANGEandtheAUTOMODEindicatorshouldbelit.IfanyotherLED’sarelitorflashing,consultthe“DisplayIndicators”inthismanual.

4. Youshouldheartheexhaust(draft)fanrunningimmediatelyandtheaugershouldbeginturningcontinuouslyfor1minute.

5. Theautofuelignitor(locatedinsidethebackwalloftheburnpot)shouldbegintoglowred/orangeafter3minutes.

6. TheRoomFanwillnotoperateatthistimesincetheunitmustreachafactorypresettemperature.

DONOTopentheviewingdoor,theauto-start igniter willgetveryhotduringthistest.Thestovewillautomaticallyshutdownafterapproximately23minutes.

ShuT dOWN PrOCEdurE

Pressthe“OFF” buttononthecontrolpadtoputthestoveinshutdownmode.Atthistime,theredlightabovethepadwillilluminate.Oncethisisdone,theaugerwillstopfeedingpellets,butthedistributionblowerandexhaustblowerwillcontinuetooperate.Whentheinternaltemperatureoftheunitdropsbelowthefactorypresettemperature,thedistributionblowerandexhaustblowerwillceasetooperate.Theredlightwillthenshutoffandtheunitwillbecompletelyshutdown.

Thehottertheunitisduringitsoperation,thelongeritwilltakeforthestovetocompletetheshutdowncycle.Ifthestovestaysonformorethan2hoursafterpressingthe“OFF” buttonandyouaresurethatthefireisout,thestovecanbeunpluggedfromtheoutlet.Afterapproximately10seconds,theunitcanbere-connectedtothepowersourceandthecontrolboardwillbereset.

Ifachimneyorcreosotefireoccurs,pressthe“OFF”buttonimmediately.Donotunplugtheunit.

First Fire: Adjustthe“hEAT rANgE” and“BLOWEr SPEEd” to a “3” settingandallowthestovetooperateinthismannerforapproximatelythree(3)hours(ormoreifnecessary),allowingthestoveto“cureout”asthepaintandoilsfromthemanufacturingprocessburnoff.Werecommendthatyouopen

doorsandwindowsinyourhomeduringthisprocess.Adjustsettingtodesiredsetting.

WARNING: Never shut down this unit by unplugging it from the power source.

STArT-uP PrOCEdurE DO NOT USE CHEMICAlS OR FlUIDS TO START THE FIRE - Never use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel,

kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid, or similar liquids to start or “freshen up” a fire in this stove. Keep all such liquids well away from the stove while it is in use.

DO NOT bURN GARbAGE OR FlAMMAblE FlUIDS SUCH AS GASOlINE, NAPHTHA, OR ENGINE OIl.

HOT WHIlE IN OPERATION. KEEP CHIlDREN, ClOTHING AND FURNITURE AWAy. CONTACT MAy CAUSE SKINS bURNS.

1. Verifythatthehopperiscleanandfreeofforeignmatter.

2. Verifythatalloftherequiredexhaust/inletconnectionshavebeenmadeinaccordancewiththismanualandthatthestoveispluggedintoanoutlet(anoutletsurgeprotectorishighlyrecommended).

3. Fillthehopperwithwoodpellets;donotallowanypartofthebagoranyotherforeignmaterialintothehopper,asthismayjamtheauger.

4. Ensurethatallpelletmatterisclearedfromthehopperseatingsurface.

5. Closethehopperlid.The unit WIll NOT feed fuel with the hopper lid open.

6. Makesurethattheviewingdoorissecurelyclosed(thesafetypressureswitchwillnotallowthestovetofeedfuelifthereisnodraftpressureinsidethestove).

7. Pressthe“ON” buttononthecontrolpadandsetthe“hEAT SETTiNg” toyourdesiredsetting.

8. Thestovewillbegintofeedfuelandtheauto-start igniter willignitethefuelinapproximately5minutes.

Onceaconsistentflamehasbeenestablished,youcanadjustthe“HEATRANGE”and“BLOWERSPEED”on the con-trolpadtoyourdesiredsettings.(Note:Thedistributionblowerwillnotfunctionuntiltheheatexchangerinthestovereachesthefactorypresettemperature).

dAiLy OPErATiON The hopper and stove top will be hot during operation; therefore, you should always use some type of hand

protection when refueling your stove.

Never place your hand near the auger while the stove is in operation.

Thisunitshouldbefilledwhenthehopperleveldropsbelow3-inches.

Intheeventofapower outage,thestoveWILLNOTfunction.Itisveryimportantthatunitbeventedproperly(withoutsideair),asthenaturaldraftisneededtoclearthesmokefromthestoveduringapoweroutage.Iftheunitwas“ON” whenthepoweroutageoccurred,oneofthefollowingwilltakeplace:

1. Ifthestoveisstillwarm,itwillresumefeedingfuelandcontinuetooperatenormally.Ifthefirehasgoneout,youwillhavetopressthe“OFF” buttonandthenthe“ON” buttonagaintobeginanewstart-upsequence.

2. Ifthestovehascooled-off,itwillresettoits“OFF” condition.Atthispoint,youmaypressthe“ON” buttonandtheunitwillbeginanewstart-upsequence.

NOTE:Theunitwillalsoshutdownintheeventofanexhaustblowerfailure;ifthisisthecase,theunitwillnotre-startandyoumustcontactCustomerServiceat(800)750-2723.

SAFETy ANd CONvENiENCE FEATurESYourpelletstoveincorporatesasafety pressure switch thathelpsensurethateverythingisinproperworkingorderbeforefeedingfueltotheburnpot.Becausethestoveworksusinganinduceddraftpressure,thestovewillnotcontinuetooperateiftheviewingdoorisleftopen;oriftheexhaustblowerfailsortheexhaustsystemisblocked.

The temperature limit control (Thermistor)willpreventyourstovefromoperatingatabnormallyhightemperatures.Shouldthestovetemperaturebegintoapproachthefactorypre-setlimit,thetemperaturelimitcontrolwillautomaticallyslowdowntheaugerfeedrateuntilthetemperaturereturnstoanormalcondition.Eventhoughtheheaterwilloperateonthehighestsetting,werecommendtooperateyourheateronthissettingforonlyashortperiodoftime.(1houretc.)

Yourpelletstovealsoincludesanauto-start igniter asastandardfeature.Theuseofotherfirestartermaterials(woodchips,startergel,etc.)isnotnecessary.Bysimplypressingthe“ON”buttononthedigitalcontrolpanel,yourstovewillbegintofeedfuelandautomaticallystartwithin5minutes.

Failure to clean and maintain this unit as indicated can result in poor performance and safety hazards. Unplug your stove’s electrical cord prior to removing the back panel or opening the exhaust system for any

inspection, cleaning, or maintenance work. Never perform any inspections, cleaning, or maintenance on a hot stove. Do not operate stove with broken glass , leakage of flue gas may result.

EXhAuST SySTEMCreosote Formation–Whenanywoodisburnedslowly,itproducestarandotherorganicvapors,whichcombinewithexpelledmoisturetoformcreosote.Thecreosotevaporscondenseintherelativelycoolchimneyflueoranewlystartedfireorfromaslow-burningfire.Asaresult,creosoteresidueaccumulatesonthefluelining.Whenignited,thiscreosotemakesanextremelyhotfire,whichmaydamagethechimneyorevendestroythehouse.Despitetheirhighefficiency,pelletstovescanaccumulatecreosoteundercertainconditions.

Fly Ash–Thisaccumulatesinthehorizontalportionofanexhaustrun.Thoughnon-combustible,itmayimpedethenormalexhaustflow.Itshouldthereforebeperiodicallyremoved.

Inspection and Removal–Thechimneyconnectorandchimneyshouldbeinspectedannuallyorpertontodetermineifacreosoteorflyashbuild-uphasoccurred.Ifcreosotehasaccumulated,itshouldberemovedtoreducetheriskofachimneyfire.Inspectthesystematthestoveconnectionandatthechimneytop.Coolersurfacestendtobuildcreosotedepositsquicker,soitisimportanttocheckthechimneyfromthetopaswellasfromthebottom.Thecreosoteshouldberemovedwithabrushspecificallydesignedforthetypeofchimneyinuse.Aqualifiedchimneysweepcanperformthisservice.It isalsorecommendedthatbeforeeachheatingseasontheentiresystembeprofessionallyinspected,cleanedand,ifnecessary,repaired.Tocleanthechimney,disconnecttheventfromthestove.

iNTEriOr ChAMBErSPeriodicallyremoveandcleantheburnpotandtheareainsidetheburnpothousing.Inparticularitisadvisabletocleanouttheholesintheburnpottoremoveanybuildupthatmaypreventairfrommovingthroughtheburnpotfreely.Removethetwo(2)platesoneachsideoftheburnpothousingandcleanoutthatrearchamber.Ifavacuumisusedtocleanyourstove,wesuggestusingavacuumdesignedforashremoval.Someregularvacuumcleaner(i.e.shopvacs)mayleakashintotheroom.ASh diSPOSALDisposalofashes–Ashesshouldbeplacedinasteelcontainerwithatightfittinglidandmovedoutdoorsimmediately.Theclosedcontainerofashesshouldbeplacedonanoncombustiblefloororontheground,wellawayfromcombustiblematerials,pendingfinaldisposal.Iftheashesaredisposedofbyburialinsoilorotherwiselocallydispersed,theyshouldberetainedintheclosedcontaineruntilallcindershavethoroughlycooled.Otherwasteshallnotbeplacedinthiscontainer.CHECK AND ClEAN THE HOPPERCheckthehopperperiodicallytodetermineifthereisanysawdustorpelletsthatarestickingtothehoppersurface.Cleanasneeded.DOOR AND GlASS GASKETSInspectthemaindoorandglasswindowgasketsperiodically.Themaindoormayneedtoberemovedtohavefrayed,broken,orcompactedgasketsreplacedbyyourauthorizeddealer.Theglassgaskethasagapatthebottomfortheairwash.BLOWEr MOTOrSCleantheairholesonthemotorsofboththeexhaustanddistributionblowersannually.Removetheexhaustblowerfromtheexhaustductandcleanouttheinternalfanbladesaspartofyourfallstart-up.PAiNTEd SurFACESPaintedsurfacesmaybewipeddownwithadampcloth.Ifscratchesappear,oryouwishtorenewyourpaint,contactyourauthorizeddealertoobtainacanofsuitablehigh-temperaturepaint.gLASS - Cleaning, Removal and Replacement of broken Door GlassCleaning-Werecommendusingahighqualityglasscleaner.Shouldabuildupofcreosoteorcarbonaccumulate,youmaywishtouse000steelwoolandwatertocleantheglass.DONOTuseabrasivecleaners.DONOTperformthecleaningwhiletheglassisHOT.,Intheeventyouneedtoreplacetheglass,removethefour(4)screwsandglassretainers.Whilewearingleathergloves(oranyotherglovessuitableforhandlingbrokenglass),carefullyremoveanyloosepiecesofglassfromthedoorframe.Disposeofallbrokenglassproperly.ONLYhightemperatureceramicglassofthecorrectsizeandthicknessmaybeused.DONOTsubstitutealternativematerialsfortheglass.Contactyourauthorizeddealertoobtainthisglass.Re-installthenewglassbyre-attachingtheretainersandscrews,carefulnottoovertightenthescrewsforthiscoulddamagetheglass.DONOTabusethedoorglassbystriking,slammingorsimilartrauma.Donotoperatethestovewiththeglassremoved,crackedorbroken.FALL STArT uPPriortostartingthefirstfireoftheheatingseason,checktheoutsideareaaroundtheexhaustandairintakesystemsforobstructions.Cleanandremoveanyflyashfromtheexhaustventingsystem.Cleananyscreensontheexhaustsystemandontheoutsideairintakepipe.Turnallofthecontrolsonandmakesurethattheyareworkingproperly.Thisisalsoagoodtimetogivetheentirestoveagoodcleaningthroughout.SPriNg ShuTdOWN Afterthelastburninthespring,removeanyremainingpelletsfromthehopperandtheaugerfeedsystem.Scoopoutthepelletsandthenruntheaugeruntilthehopperisemptyandpelletsstopflowing(thiscanbedonebypressingthe“ON” buttonwiththeviewingdooropen).Vacuumoutthehopper.Thoroughlycleantheburnpot,andfirebox.Itmaybedesirabletospraytheinsideofthecleanedhopperwithanaerosolsiliconesprayifyourstoveisinahighhumidityarea.Theexhaustsystemshouldbethoroughlycleaned.ChiMNEy CONNECTOr Therequiredchimneyconnectormustbekeptcleanandingoodcondition.

Maintenance

Disconnect the power cord before performing any maintenance! NOTE: Turning the ON/OFF Switch to ”OFF” does not disconnect all power to the electrical components of the stove.

Never try to repair or replace any part of the stove unless instructions for doing so are given in this manual. All other work should be done by a trained technician.

• Lossofdraftpressure.Makesurethattheviewingdoorisclosedandsealedproperly.Ifnot,adjustdoorcatchand/orreplacedoorgaskets.Checkthatalloutsideconnectionsareclearofanyobstructions.Checktheexhaustsystem;cleanasneeded.

• Checkthatthepressureswitchconnectiontothefireboxisfreeofashorclearofobstructions.

• Augersystemisjammedorthereisa“bridging”ofthefuelinthehopper,preventingfuelfromflowingintotheaugerfeedsystem.

PrOBLEM CAuSE:Auto-StartIgniterfailstoignitethefuelintheburnpot.Stovedoesnot start a firewhen the“ON”buttonispushed

Display IndicatorsSeveralsituationsoreventsareindicatedinnormaloperationbyblinkingdisplayindicatorsorsegmentsinthedisplay:Flashing On Indicator:Thismeansthatthestoveisinthe“StartUp”statewaitingforeithera3minutetime-outtobeginburningorforthestovetoreachthewarmtemperaturewhichevercomesfirst.Flashing Off Indicator:Thisindicatesthatthestoveisinthe“Shutdown”statewaitingfortheOFFbutton,orfora15minuteperiodafterthestovewasturnedoff,orforthestovetocooldown,orforthedoortobeclosed.Flashing dash in Heat Range Display:Thisindicatesthatthestoveisinthenormalrunmodeandisrampingfromthecurrentheatrangesettingtothetargetheatrangesetting.Oncetherampiscomplete,thedashwillstopflashing.Forrampingfromheatrange1to5,thedefaulttimeis12minutes(witha90secondramptime).Flashing Automatic Mode Indicator:Thisindicatesthatthestoveisinnormaloperationandisrunningintheautomaticmode.However,eithertheDraftFanorAuxiliarysettingismanuallyconfigured.Flashing Draft Fan Setting Indicator:Thisindicatesthatthestoveisinnormaloperationandthatthevacuumsensordetectsalossofpressureeitherbecausethedoorisopenorbecausethereisanegativepressureintheroomwithrespecttotheexhaust.
