Notes from Mrs. DeLong November 18, 2014 November is flying right along, and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We just wrapped up our first grading period and are beginning the second grading period. The first grade classes are doing very well. I appreciate the students’ positive participation and joyful spirits. We celebrated each class earning their 10th Good Note during October, and the classes are now working toward 20. Let’s see which class will get there first!

• Learning  Our  Class  Hello  Song  in  Spanish  (Hola!)  –  we  now  know  5  ways  to  sing  our  Hello  song!  

• Learning  to  Internalize  the  Beat  Through  Movement  and  Body  Percussion  

• Singing  an  Echo  Song  “Charlie  Over  the  Ocean”  –  ask  me  about  some  of  the  things  that  Charlie  caught!  

• Celebrating  10  Good  Notes  with  a  Drumming  Activity  

• Singing  Songs  About  Fall  and  Halloween  

• Singing  Our  Hello  Song  “Spooky”  for  Halloween  –  it’s  minor  mode  

• Experiencing  How  Music  Can  Get  Faster  and/or  Slower  Through  Movement  and  Singing  

• Having  Fun  with  the  Song  “Miss  Mary  Mack”  (see  photos)  

• Playing  a  Fast/Slow  Game  and  Choosing  How  to  Perform  a  Poem  or  Song  

“Miss Mary Mack” with a Hop, Skip, and Jump!
