Sharing the bounty! During May, the grocery cart parked near the sanctuary doors could especially use the following items:

• canned fruit (peaches, pears, fruit cocktail) • baby cereals • gluten free items • feminine hygiene products.

Please, no glass containers, home canned foods or items from bulk food bins! All items will be delivered to Regional Council for Christian Ministry for our missions: The Community Food Basket and the Soup Kitchen, and FISH. Thank you for sharing your good fortune.

F.I.S.H. – (Friends In Service Here) Did you know you cannot buy anything you cannot eat with food stamps? FISH helps in many ways in this area. One of the projects we do is the ongoing collection of unopened motel and sample size hygiene products like soap, shampoo and lotion. Do you have those items in a drawer or closet and find that you do not use them? We can place them where they are needed. You can bring them to the RCCM office on the lower level at Trinity. Thank you so much for helping us make lives a little better! Twice a year we get together and assemble Ziploc size bags which we then distribute to agencies and locations that dispense them to those in need. We call it Soup and Soap in the winter and Salad and Soap in the summer. We will be gathering sometime in late June to assemble the bags so hope to have lots to package. It’s great fun and I even serve lunch! Questions ? Call Bev Kemp at 208-569-6149.

Summer Food Service Program Needs Volunteers We are reaching out to your religious organization to see if you would like to participate in the 2019 Summer Food Service Program. We provide lunch to children that suffer from food insecurity during the summer. We are seeking your support to insure that this program runs smoothly.

The Summer Food Service Program is very excited to begin our second year offering this program to our community. We are signing up volunteers for one week blocks. If that doesn't work for your team, we can certainly work around your availability. We can also team you up with individuals that don't have a team. We will provide a sponsorship board at meal service for your organization's logo. This is in appreciation of your generous donation of time. Meal prep and service is from 10AM-1PM M-F. We are looking for 3-6 people a day. Your team members can alternate throughout the week, however it would be ideal if the team leader volunteered all 5 days. We have a training for the program for the team leader on May 30, 6-8pm and one on June 1, 10-12. Only one training is required. Any member of the team may also attend. We are having a kickoff party on June 7th, 6pm, at Kate Curley Park.

We greatly appreciate your support in helping make this program happen and run successfully. Serving dates:June 3-7June 10-14June 17-21June 24-28July 1-5 Not serving July 4July 8-12July 15-19July 22-26 Taken

Idaho Falls Summer

Food Service Program

The Idaho Falls Summer Food Service Program is a USDA federally funded program that seeks

to serve kids suffering from food insecurity during the summer. According to the Kids Count

Data Center, 46.2% of students in Idaho Falls School District 91 participated in the federally

funded Free and Reduced Lunch Program in the 10127-18 school year. That averages out to

over 4,000 youth and children in Idaho Falls alone who couldn’t afford to bring a lunch to

school for one reason or another.

What do these young people and their families do during the summer?

With the help of First Presbyterian and many other churches, non-profits, and even local

businesses, New Day Lutheran Church sought to meet this need by starting the Idaho Falls

Summer Food Service Program last year, offering lunches three days a week throughout the

summer and serving a total of 718 meals.

This year we hope to increase our lunches offered to 5 days a week.

Your generous donations will help to make this happen. Please make checks payable to:

New Day Lutheran Church, with Summer Food Service on the memo line. Please send to: New

Day Lutheran Church, 2184 Channing Way #474, Idaho Falls, ID 83404.

Thank you, RCCM churches, for your support
