Collaboration and Productivity FeaturesVoiceBarge-In – Independently conference into/join an existing busy line between two parties either between two iTurrets or between an iTurret and an associated unified communication endpoint (SIP or H323).
Common Lamping – Sharing the same line between multiple iTurrets, and associated unified communication endpoints. Common lamping shows the line state (idle, active, busy, hold) for any lines programmed to the iTurret and/or associated unified communication endpoint regardless of who has seized those lines.
Privacy – Allows the user to prevent others from barging in on a line.
Auto Handset Mute – Automatically enables mute on either handset; when having an active call on one handset and making or receiving a secondary call on the other handset.
Immediate Transfer - The immediate transfer feature allows the user to transfer a call to a specified number, configured against the key. If no call is active then the key is treated as a normal speed dial and will dial the configured number.
Automatic Answer on Second Handset – When enabled, if the selected handset is busy and the other handset is idle, an answered incoming call or an outgoing call attempt will automatically select the other handset.
Dynamic Keys - Dynamic keys visually alert the iTurret user of incoming calls, calls in a hold state and/or shared lines that are busy elsewhere. Each Dynamic Key has a relative priority, the higher priority Dynamic Keys show the longest ringing call and the longest held calls.
Alerts - Enables the iTurret user to quickly distinguish between a diverse range of inbound communications that can arise through a combination of private wires and telephony calls. The iTurret equips the user with an extensive array of alerting capabilities for use in making an immediate distinction between incoming calls.
A total of 32 alert profiles are available for the user to assign against different line appearances. Each alert profile can serve to characterise the ring-tone, display style, volume and priority for incoming telephony calls or ringing private wires.
Eleven-Way Client Side Conferencing – The ability to be joined to an existing call consisting of a maximum of 11 parties i.e one iTurret user and 10 other parties. Internal or External.
Speakers Speaker Paging - Supports up to 4 pre-set speaker page memories enabling a total of 96 different speaker-line assignments per iTurret and the iE801 expansion module. Each speaker can be independently configured to have speaker paging enabled or not. Speaker paging is accessed via the iTurret’s main menu. Reconnection of line assignments and associated lamping status are performed automatically when moving from one speaker page to another on both iTurret and iE801.
Speaker Channel Auto Answer - The auto speaker feature allows an incoming call to be auto answered on a speaker channel. This applies to both telephony and private lines calls.
Speaker Group Talk - These enable a specific combination of speaker channels, as defined by the user, to be grouped together under a single key press. The user can then talk on the selected speaker channels concurrently. There is also the ability to prevent barge-in to busy private lines by invoking the ‘Group Talk Barge’ function. You can also utilise Group Talk member muting, to selectively choose to broadcast/speak to only a subset of the speaker group talk members.
iTurret iD808
Collaboration and productivity features
10
iTurret iD808Collaboration and productivity features
Up to 4 group talk keys can be configured per iTurret, they can be either paginating or non-paginating key types. They can be grouped together to enable the iTurret user to broadcast/speak to all configured speaker channels simultaneously, or they can be configured to operate independently.
If operating independently, their functionality will increase the total number of groups to 4. The associated appearance will also show the type of latching enabled for that particular group talk key. Multiple group talk keys can be operated simultaneously.
Speaker Channel Prioritisation - A system of assigning a priority to a speaker channel and automatic dipping or muting of the other channels is available to the iTurret user. Configuration of this is either via the embedded iTurret menu system or iCMS management application. Priority levels can be set between 1 (Highest) and 4 (Lowest) along with the audio dipping, which can be set as Off, ¼, ½, ¾ and Mute.
Standard telephonyAuto Swap – When seizing a held line directly from an active line, thus supports the ability to automatically place the active line on hold and seize the held line.
Auto Hold – Automatically place an active call on-hold by directly seizing another line.
Auto Clear - Automatically clear an active call by directly seizing another line.
Bridged Call Appearances – The same telephone extension can appear on multiple telephones either iTurret and/or associated IP-PBX endpoint. Users that have bridged call appearances on their telephones are able to receive and place calls using those call appearances.

iTurret iD808Operational versatility
The iTurret makes highly effective use of colour displays to ensure that the user’s attention is quickly directed to events or changes in state. Special attention is given to the use of graphics, fonts and text within the displays. Each display is partitioned into distinct ‘fingers’. Each display finger is then associated with a specific soft-key.
An individual display finger is sub-divided into areas that are reserved for use with graphical icons and text. Graphical icons are used to convey the type of soft-key (e.g. speed dial, line appearance). A selection of 16 colours is available for use in distinguishing between key types. Some sample colours have been highlighted in the following screen display.
During periods of call activity, two smaller icons are then used to convey state information on the handset finger. The first icon provides information that is relevant to the audio device. The second icon conveys information that characterises the current call state. This information might indicate whether a handset is idle, or whether a call is connecting etc. Each display finger can be configured to display either a single or a double line of text.
Language Localisation: The iTurret product is designed for localisation across all major geographical regions of the globe. Support for Unicode UTF-8 encoding is included within the user interface design.

Centralised System Management (iCMS)The Speakerbus iCMS is a sophisticated management portal that is tightly integrated with your collaborative communication assets. Speakerbus’ iCMS management suite simplifies the process of configuring and deploying global collaborative assets, whilst providing the business with efficient time critical management and comprehensive monitoring.
iCMS has been designed with security and compliance in mind with role based access levels controlled through a designated security administrator. Access to specific management functions, services and groups can be strictly controlled and aligned to customers’ privacy and confidentially requirements, through authentication and security role mapping embedded in the iCMS database.
iCMS is built on foundation technologies from Microsoft. The database is built upon on a centralised database structure, utilising either Microsoft SQL 2005 or 2008 R2.
The iCMS database can be installed on the clients’ own server. It can support SQL farms or clusters, high availability server deployments, single box solutions and servers running in the cloud.
Administrators can define database maintenance plans, shielding them from the complexity of SQL. Profiles are maintained per user and are stored in the database, retaining user preferences and device specific information. When updates are made to the profile from either the iCS endpoint or through iCMS, appropriate checks are then conducted to reconcile the changes avoiding any conflicting updates to ensure data integrity.
The iCMS browser interface is certified for Internet Explorer (I.E.) and
Mozilla Firefox, and has been tailored to be agnostic delivering a slick workflow management process, whether this be a specific function or an enterprise configuration. The browser interface is non-flash based, removing the need for unsecure plug-ins, whilst enabling simultaneous access for multiple geographically located administrators.
Embedded tools have been developed within iCMS to lessen the need for a ‘hands-on’ administrative approach, allowing system administrators to focus on more challenging tasks. ‘Live’ updates ensure automatic synchronisation between iCS endpoints and iCMS is maintained, whilst preventing service interruption during operational hours. Each individual endpoint device is able to auto announce itself to iCMS.
If a profile is already preconfigured within the iCMS database, the device profile will be automatically configured, including ongoing directory synchronisation to device keys, again reducing the administration overhead.
The telephone directory can be synchronised directly into the iCMS and then onto the iTurret and automatic updates can be scheduled.
In addition, upgrade patches can be applied incrementally across the enterprise, ensuring risk management is contained.

18
iTurret iD808Operational versatility
In terms of maintenance, the iCMS provides administrators with the ability to carry out and schedule backups, retention and maintenance.
Centralised real-time and historical monitoring of collaborative assets across deployments provides a consolidated approach to proactive administration. Various status management alarms provide administrators with visual indication of potential issues. Historical reports provide analysis of assets and the associated infrastructure, to facilitate streamlining, monitoring and troubleshooting.
iManager ARIA - Soft ClientIn response to the rising demand for cloud based technologies, the ARIA virtual endpoint enables greater workforce mobility and enhanced disaster recovery, with a reduced total cost of ownership.

Security Considerations Provisions have been made within the iTurret design and its companion management portal to include advanced security features as dictated by customers and market expectations.
• User Authentication: The iTurret natively
supports two levels of access authentication
in the form of user and administrator levels. In
addition to normal user access, an administrative
level is provided in order to restrict access to
specific embedded menus on the iTurret that are
intended for configuration and support tasks.
Both access levels are password controlled and
are maintained as a function of the
iCMS management portal.
The iCMS incorporates Authentication,
Authorisation and Auditing techniques. By
integrating with Windows Authentication
policies, appropriate iTurret administrative roles
can be applied to selected authorised individuals
mitigating unauthorised access to iTurret
devices. An embedded audit log tracks actions
undertaken by authorised administrators, in case
of incidents of malpractice.
• Encryption: Password data is safeguarded
through the use of cryptographic hash functions
and encryption techniques. The iTurret is
equipped with the necessary hardware to
support Extensible Authentication Protocol to
support port-based authentication, Transport
Layer Security for the encryption of SIP
signalling and Secure Real-time Protocol for
media encryption in the future.
Quality of Service TechniquesThe iTurret is adaptive in nature, it will add delay when packets get delayed or dropped, seeking the best possible performance under prevailing network conditions. Most switching and routing devices currently in use will be ‘QoS’ capable.
However, the network design as a whole and the detailed configuration of the switches and routers work together to determine if the network will provide the service levels to make VoIP practical.
To compliment the iTurret’s adaptive nature the following QoS techniques are supported:
• Bandwidth optimisation techniques: Voice
Activity Detection
• Diffserv (RFC 2474) – Type of service field
configurable
• Choice of codec G.711, G.729a, G.722 and G.723
(6.3kbps & 5.3kbps)
21
iTurret iD808Operational versatility
ComplianceCompliance is implemented via “active recording” on the iTurret, whereby its own premixed recording streams are sent direct to the recorder along with the associated call information.
Compliance Reporting: The iTurret call information is collated by the iManager Call Data Service (iCDS). This is a Microsoft® application that unifies all iTurret call information. It runs as a service to concentrate up to 16 CDR call information streams that can be shared out to multiple third-party applications via a standard IP socket interface. The iTurret call information stream is a standardised protocol and data schema that can be utilised by applications offered through certified specialist Speakerbus vendors.*
iTurret voice recording architecture
Compliance Recording: The recording of hoot ‘n’ holler, intercom, private wires and telephony traffic is facilitated with a dedicated RTP stream, or through a Speakerbus digital or analogue gateway to an approved voice recorder. Dual iCDS can be deployed for compliance resilience requirements. iTurret call traffic can also be monitored with a voice activated recording (VOX) feature of the recorder to minimise storage requirements.
Compliance Resilience: The iTurret communication hub has the ability to support either 1+1 (active/active) or N+1 (active/passive) compliance mechanisms. Up to 6 dedicated recording outputs in RTP form, can be defined to approved IP enabled recorders depending on compliance requirements.
If speaker expansion modules (iE801s) are deployed, an additional 4 dedicated RTP recording streams are available per module for compliance.
iTurret voice recording 1+1 (active/active) or N+1 (active/passive) compliance architecture
Each iTurret provides a stream of call and voice activity events to the iCDS application while providing a copy of the voice stream to the recorder. Voice streams can be minimised by mixing handset and speaker channels directly at the iTurret as a means to minimise traffic and recorder capacity requirements.

iTurret iD808Operational versatility
IT UnificationThe iTurret is at the core of the voice collaboration process. Utilising open standards to provide interoperability with existing unified communication platforms, IP networks and data centres simplifies the deployment of iTurrets.
iTurret is built on a Linux operating system that inherently brings a more secure approach. Its SIP based architecture along with standards based networking techniques including DNS, IGMP, DHCP,TCP/IP, IPv4, SSH, HTTP, 802.1p/q and SNMP facilitate the iTurret’s agile deployment in today’s dynamic unified communications technology landscape.
Through the utilisation of SIP, the iTurret can function both in a single or multiple site environment. The endpoint uses standard Unicast G.711, G.722 and G.729 coded Real-Time-Protocol (RTP) streams for inter-site communication across the WAN.
Management of the iTurret is achieved through a centralised management system (iCMS), which is based on a standard Microsoft® Windows Server environment, with a database infrastructure founded on Microsoft® SQL, coupled with a web browser client interface.
The iManager portal provides a comprehensive set of policies that define various configuration parameters ranging from network configuration, recording setup and voice services parameter.
iTurret management is achieved through Speakerbus’ Centralised Management System - an intuitive web based administration portal.
