[Song playing: You’ve got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman]
BEN: [singing]
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
When the road looks rough ahead
And you’re miles and miles
From your nice warm bed.
You just remember what your old pal said
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
If you’ve got troubles,
I’ve got ‘em too.
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you.
We stick together and can see it through.
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too, maybe.
But none of them will ever love you the way I do.
It’s me and you, boy.
And as the years go by.
Our friendship will never die.
You’re gonna see it’s our destiny.
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.
You’ve got a pal in me.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION-
Father is still standing by the fridge, turns to the left holding his chin. Frame freezes, background fades to
Black.
[Sad music]
The whispers, the looks.
The looks, the whispers.
Am I wrong?
For thinking differently than my community where I stay?
Hmm.
Am I wrong?
For saying I choose a different way of teaching and raising?
I'm not trying to copy and do what everyone else is doing.
Just because everyone his following what they all do.
If one thing I've noticed, I make mistakes but I grow.
I'm walking on this road, upon this road that's all my own.
So am I wrong?
For thinking individually we can be successful.
Hmm? Am I wrong?
For reaching for a dream that I can't see?
I don't know.
In my heart that's how I feel.
