TRANSCRIPT
“Today, on the First Sunday of Advent, we begin a new liturgical year; that is, a new journey of the People of God with Jesus Christ, our Shepherd, who guides us through history toward the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God. Therefore, this day has a special charm, it makes us experience deeply the meaning of history. We rediscover the beauty of all being on a journey: the Church, with her vocation and mission, and all humanity, peoples, civilizations, cultures, all on a journey across the paths of time… The time of Advent that we begin again today returns us to the horizon of hope, a hope that does not disappoint because it is founded on the Word of God. A hope that does not disappoint, simply because the Lord never disappoints! He is faithful!”

Lord, hold our troops in Your loving hands, protect them as they protect us. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior.
WELCOME! We are glad you are here! If you would like to join our faith community, please take a New Parishioner Information Packet from the vestibule or contact/come by the office and let us know how we may be of service to you!
The Sanctuary Lamp burns constantly to proclaim the real presence of Jesus in the Tabernacle. This week it also reminds us to pray for children in the poorest parts of the world. May they come to know, through Christian love and acts of kindness our Lord, Jesus Christ.
This Week, Altar flowers have been donated in loving memory of Tom Hanley.

November 29Jeremiah 33:14-16; Psalm 25; 1 Thessalonians 3:12–4:2; Luke 21:25-28, 34-36Our readings today are about signs: the just shoot raised up from David; the sun, moon, and stars; and even the earth. As we begin this new season of Advent, let us be attentive to the signs of God’s movement in our own lives. How do we live so that we are not surprised by the coming of the Lord? Let us heed Paul and conduct ourselves in a way pleasing to God. The best way to get ready for the coming of the Lord is to act as if the Lord were already here.
December 6Baruch 5:1–9; Psalm 126; Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11; Luke 3:1-6
Father, all the elements of nature obey Your command. Calm the storms and hurricanes that threaten us and turn our fear of Your power into praise of Your goodness. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

NOVEMBER 29 – FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENTToday we begin a new season, and a new year, in the life of the Church. In every phase of our lives, we observe annual celebrations to mark those things that we value most – birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. So this annual season of Advent draws our attention to what is most important: God’s love revealed to us in the incarnation of Jesus. Starting today, let us mark this annual season with a heightened awareness of God’s presence in our midst, so that we may truly prepare for the coming of the Lord into our hearts this Christmas.

SAINT BENEDICT CATHOLIC SCHOOL"ora et labora"
Coming on December 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the SBCS Performance Hall (gym) is the annual Saint Benedict Catholic School Christmas Program. The program includes songs by the PK3 and PK4 classes, music from the Performance Choir and a musical performed by Middle School students with choral and dance numbers by students in grades K-8. This year’s production, An Out of the Box Christmas, is a unique look at the meaning of Christmas. In the story, when the costumes arrive, they are entirely wrong. Instead of shepherds, they have pirate costumes. Instead of wisemen, they have cowboys. Instead of angels, there are cheerleading costumes, and instead of an angel Gabriel, they have a superhero. Though the costumes are all wrong, the message is ALL RIGHT. Most of the lyrics are entirely from scripture, however the music has a bit of a pirate, cowboy, or superhero flare. In any case, the Nativity story is not about what the biblical characters wear, but about the "Good News" of Jesus' birth. I hope that you will attend and enjoy this energetic unusual production.
Pictured below is Knights of Columbus Treasurer, Ed Lemm, presenting a check for $2,000.00 to St. Benedict Catholic School principal, Leslie Mapp.
In preparing for next week's beginning of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, consider: "How has God's mercy touched my life?""How can I become an instrument of God's mercy to others in this Jubilee Year?"
