The centre seeks to promote a better understanding of the multi-dimensional contributions made by women to the process of sustainable development. The Centre attempts to provide access to better opportunities and counter the existing disparities and makes efforts to change the basic social attitudes due to gender inequality across class, caste and region. About Women Empowerment Cell, UCA & SS, Osmania University: It has been constituted to empower and safeguard the rights of female members, faculty and students of the college. The WEC works to promote gender sensitivity in the college and conducts diverse programs to educate, sensitize both male and female members and produce harmonious atmosphere on the campus. It works for the welfare of the students and faculty towards preparing them into competent professionals to take up greater challenges in the academic sphere. The traditional patterns and conventional cultural structures in the society presented an environment for the women to make an ideal shift from being passive to active participants in the divergent sectors and empowered in various areas like business, education, entrepreneurship, finance, science and technology, research, healthcare, consultancy, advocacy and entertainment. This conference also aims at analyzing the progress achieved towards the Women empowerment in particular and gender equality, in general. The international conference aims at bringing together women across the continents on to a common stage.
