3 Day Organizing Institute November 6-8, 2015 Union Organizer Training The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), APALA LA Chapter, AFL-CIO Organizing Institute, and Los Angeles Federation of Labor will be holding a 3-Day Training in Los Angeles, CA on November 6-8, 2015. The purpose of the Organizing Institute is to train Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) member activists and member organizers in basic organizing skills. If you are looking to train member activists to work on internal or external organizing campaigns, we encourage you to send your members to the training. What will participants learn at this training? One on One Communication Skills How to Move Workers to Take Action Leadership ID and Development Internal/External Organizing Campaign Techniques Where is the training and When does the Training Begin/End? Start time: Friday, November 6 th at 10:00am. End Time: Sunday, November 8 th at 12:00pm at the Los Angeles Federation of Labor on 2130 W. James M. Wood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA. What is the fee to sponsor a participant? /What does the fee cover? The fee to sponsor a member/participant is $125 per participant (includes training materials and the costs of meals for the weekend). Any costs for hotel overnight stays, lost time, parking or participant travel to/from the training is the responsibility of the sponsoring union. Who can send participants to this training? Labor Organizations affiliated with the National AFL-CIO are welcome to sponsor AAPI members to attend this training. How do we register for the APALA OI Training? Are there sponsorships available? Registration for the training may be completed on the APALA website – www.apalanet.org. Participants must be pre-registered for the training by October 22, 20015. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted. All fees must be paid by October 30 th , unless other arrangements are made in advance. We are not able to accept personal checks. Checks should be made payable to the AFL- CIO Secretary-Treasurer, 815 16 th Street NW, Washington, DC 20006. Additional Questions? Overview

The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), APALA Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, and the AFL-CIO is proud to host a three day Organizing Institute Program on November 6-8 in Los Angeles, CA. The OI is intended to train Asian Pacific American rank and file members, community allies, students and young leaders to become effective union organizers.
