The Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law (APCEL), in partnership with the journal Climate Law, convened a two-day workshop on the recently concluded “Paris Rulebook” on climate change on 24 and 25 January 2019. The Paris Rulebook is an important milestone in the struggle against climate change that was reached in December 2018, when the international community agreed on a set of rules by which to operationalise the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The workshop brought scholars and climate change negotiators from around the world to present their papers and critically analyse the legal aspects of the "Paris Rulebook". The scholarly work finalised at the workshop will be published in early 2019 as a special issue of Climate Law. Published by Brill, Climate Law is the leading specialist journal on climate change law. The workshop was facilitated by Jolene Lin, National University of Singapore, and Alexander Zahar, Wuhan University, China, who will be the editors of the special issue.

About the Workshop
An important milestone in the struggle against climate change was reached in December 2018, when the international community of states agreed on a set of rules by which to operationalize the Paris Agreement on Climate Change of 2015. To mark this momentous occasion, APCEL is convening an international workshop of climate change law scholars and climate change negotiators from around the world, at which papers on the legal aspects of the "Paris Rulebook" will be presented and critiqued. The workshop will be facilitated by Professor Jolene Lin, National University of Singapore, and Professor Alexander Zahar, Wuhan University, China. The scholarly work finalized at this workshop will be published shortly thereafter as a special issue of Climate Law, the leading journal in this field of law. Through this process, APCEL will contribute to the early clarification and further development of the law governing the international response to one of the gravest problems of our times.
