Commissioner for Disaster Management, Revenue(DM) Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh invitescompetitive bids for the renewal of Apathbandhu scheme forthe policy year 2011-12, commencing from 15-08-2011 to 14-

08-2012 from the Non-Life Insurance companies registeredwith Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA)in sealed cover by 3.00 p.m. on 18-07-2011.

The details of the scheme can be seen fromhttp://disastermanagement.ap.gov.in. Any further information,if required on the matter may be obtained from the Office ofthe Commissioner for Disaster Management & Ex-OfficioPrincipal Secretary to Government, Revenue (DM) Department,

A.P. Secretariat during office hours i.e., between 10.30 am to5.00 pm. The bids received will be opened on 18-07-2011 at4.00 p.m.

Government norms do not allow any broker to act onits behalf. This notification is subject to any modifications thattakes place in future.

Apathbandhu Scheme.XXXX

I am to inform that Government of Andhra Pradesh launched aJanata Insurance Scheme Called Apathbandhu on 02-10-1998 to implementaccident Insurance scheme for the families living Below the Poverty line (BPL) inAndhra Pradesh. The aim of the scheme is to provide insurance coverage incase of accidental deaths in the policy year from 02-10-1998 to 01-10-1999.The scheme is being renewed from time to time by entering into MOU with theInsurance companies. The Previous policy year of Apathbandhu Scheme was

from 02-10-2009 to 01-10-2010.

The brief outline of the current scheme is as follows:

Persons Covered: Persons in the age group of 18-69 years belonging to BelowPoverty Line families (White Ration Cards / Anthyodaya/Annapurna card holders).

Period of Insurance: One Year (from 15-08--2011 to 14-08-2012)Scope of coverage: Nature of deaths as indicated in the website including

newly added Sun strokes during Heat waves.Coverage of deaths: Minimum 6000 deaths with no ceiling cap.Ex-gratia payable: Rs.50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousands only) in each case.Sum assured (Total Minimum Liability) : Rs. 30.00 crores ( 6000 cases X

Rs.50,000/-) Number of death cases to be covered can beincreased in the policy year if required and if Governmentdecides so by paying additional premium on a pro-rata basis.
