Focus

on a very specific target group, youngsters in prison that undergo VET. There experience are interrupted or ad hoc vocations in education leading to a shortage of proved competences which makes it difficult to enter either vocational education or the labor market afterwards.

Aim

to provide them support in making a portfolio of their learning as well as to recognize the learning activities and link them to formal qualifications though APL. This should give them a better change to continue VET or start working after leaving the prison should prevent fallback into criminal behavior.

Based on

the instrument ROC Aventus and JPC De Sprengen have used during a pilot: a portfolio and APL. The project will upgrade this instruments based on experiences of others and will pilot the upgraded instrument in all participating countries.

About JPC de Sprengen

• Juvenile prison JPC de Sprengen• Zutphen and Wapenveld (The Netherlands)• boys between 12 and 24 years old• 150 youngsters • All boys <18 receive education• boys >18 can choose for education or work

The Sprengen is one of the most modern juvenile prisons in the country with a strong desire to innovate its curriculum.
