From the Board…Hello Friends,
In my house, there is a very large jug that we throw our newspapers into until we get enough to warrant a trip to the Lion’s Club recycling shed. I am always amazed at how the daily and weekly advertising supplements outnumber the actual pages of the newspaper. There are “Grand Opening” sales, “Going out of Business” sales, every holiday/event imaginable sales, “Semi-Annual” sales, “One Day Only” sales and more. And if that isn’t enough to entice you to part with your hard earned dollar, there are the countless discount stores and websites where everything is on sale all of the time. We are living in a bargain hunter’s paradise.
KSPS is your best bargain in television! Where else can you get quality programming (not a knock-off or cheap imitation), suitable for all ages, all day long, that you can trust and at a price that you choose? No one dictates the price except your wallet and your conscience. And it gets better! Did you know that you — yes you — can underwrite your favorite program? Underwriting is not just for corporations, it is an affordable option for individuals and families. To find out more about this opportunity, contact Sandra Kernerman at 509-443-7717.
Speaking of quality programming, check out our locally produced show, Health Matters, TELEVISION FOR LIFE. This program offers great opportunities to learn about different health challenges and to get your specific questions answered by regional experts. We are truly fortunate to live in an area with wide-ranging medical expertise at our fingertips. Don’t forget that you can catch up on previously aired programs by going to the website and watching online in the comfort of your own home and at your leisure. Now that’s a great bargain!
All the best!Pati Dahmen

You can support KSPS by underwriting the show that means the most to you! Contact us to see how your extraordinary gift can ensure

Almost 40 years ago, Captain Ross Poldark galloped across the TV screens of millions of PBS viewers, vexing villains and winning female hearts in one of Masterpiece’s earliest hit series, Poldark. Now the gallant captain rides again in a thrilling new version with all the action, adventure and romance of the original — plus even more spectacular Cornish scenery and rousing local color. A Mammoth Screen production for Masterpiece and the BBC, the new Poldark airs in eight exciting episodes beginning Sunday, June 21 at 9 pm.
Aidan Turner (The Hobbit) stars as Ross Poldark, a redcoat who returns to Cornwall after the American Revolutionary War to discover that his father is dead, his lands are ruined and his true love is about to marry his first cousin.
Also starring is Eleanor Tomlinson (Death Comes to Pemberley) as the fiery servant Demelza, a strong-willed miner’s daughter who runs away from home and finds refuge in Poldark’s enlightened household. In a special appearance, Robin Ellis — who starred as Ross Poldark in the original Masterpiece adaptation — plays Reverend Halse, the village’s sin-obsessed parson.
Poldark is based on a beloved series of novels by Winston Graham. The first, Ross Poldark, was published in 1945; the last, Bella Poldark, appeared in 2002, the year before Graham’s death. All twelve are subtitled A Novel of Cornwall and trace the fortunes of a landed, mine-owning family in windswept Cornwall two centuries ago.
Masterpiece’s new series opens with a prologue in Virginia in 1781, when Captain Poldark’s regiment is ambushed by the local militia fighting for independence. After the war and with a scar across his face as a souvenir, he goes home to Cornwall…where his real struggle begins.

Survey
With the announcement that “Downton Abbey,” premiering January 2016 on Masterpiece, will enter its sixth and fi nal season, I’m writing to thank you for your enthusiasm and supportof the series. And as a fan of Downton, I’m also a bit melancholy about the news.
All of us at KSPS share your appreciation of this drama — one of the most popular in thehistory of PBS and Masterpiece and one of the most-watched dramas on American television. e
The goal of the show’s creators was to evolve the series to refl ect the characters’ growth, and the historical changes affecting life at Downton Abbey. They believe the past fi ve seasons — and the sixth in production now — accomplish this.
There will be nine new episodes of “Downton Abbey” in its fi nal season. KSPS will be also be bringing you new, ongoing Masterpiece dramas, including an 8-hour remake of “e Poldark” in June and “Indian Summers,” an epic 10-part series, in September. Also coming: new episodes of “Sherlock;” a 6-hour “Home Fires,” telling the story of English life at home during WWII; and “Arthur & George,” based on Julian Barnes’ novel about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In addition, “Last Tango in Halifax” returns in June; and in 2016, PBS and KSPS will premiere its fi rst American drama in more than a decade.
It’s been great meeting all of the fans at our Downton events over the years, and we’re already planning several waysnto say an appropriate goodbye to a show that’s meant so much to so many.
Together, let’s plan to make the coming year a celebration of “Downton Abbey” and enjoy these new opportunities toexperience some of television’s best drama on PBS.

• Look forward to seeing most of the programs — (a list of programs) with chocolates and a drink• We are instructed, challenged, entertained and edifi ed by PBS. We are not patronized, annoyed or subject to
commercials.• Strongly believe in decent, community-backed programming. KSPS has an abundance of same.• I like the quality, intelligence and research for authenticity of your programs. I love British shows and some
comedies!
What other programs would you like to see on KSPS?
• New and different programs during pledge drives or keep the regular programs with time to pledge.• Please bring back Endeavor, Inspector Lewis, DC Banks, New Tricks &s Call the Midwife.• More dramas at an earlier time in the evening. More British comedies.• Movies that don’t get a lot of theatrical exposure and are made after 1990.
