I have travelled much since coni- ing to India, to find marly a hungr?~ soul among the dear missionaries ?.s well as among other classes. 1\I:1ny seek and find God's fullntss in Jesus Christ.

AN OPEN DOOR.

Since I moved away from Bulsar, Suriit Dist., to Andheri, which is only fifteen miles out from Bom- bay, God has opened a door for me in :1 wonderful way among the ~ a t i v r Christian preachers and \,-orlwrs in that great city. there is now an open door and God has enabled me to deliver some mes- sages to them. There are also real Ilnngry hearts among these for the fullness of the Spirit 's baptism. Oh beloved, please pray for me! I ileccl much wisdom to know just how to deal with every soul just r1gllt.

PREJUDICE BROKEN DOWN.

Most of the above mentioned had bten much prejudiced against this I'entecostal work on account of some dear workers being unwise in the past. Oh yes, i t takes much wisdom (divine) to deal with pre- judiced souls. I want to be flooded more with pure, unselfish love. This will never fail to win souls and c!raw them to Jesus Christ.

Beginning with J u l y 15 and last- ing over a period of three days is a tirne of general feasting in honor of the spirits of the dead who are said to come forth from their gravcs and walk about in the earth for a time of c.ating. A t noon of the tlrtrd day a general tolling of the many surrouncling temple bells pealed out in different tones, and a solemn, chanting prayer arose like the murmur of waters to those ~ p i r i t s and their gods as they were trn their way b;~cli to their graves. A WONDERFUL MISSIONARY FIELD

This is a strategic point for China, Korea and Japan. We are in the midst of thousands of picked men from every part of these Em- pires. They are in a plastic, teachable condition, and in a short time will go back to their homes and become leaders. Most of them have been sent here by their gov- ernment (of China and Korea,) primarily to find out the secret of Japan's power-the conqueror of China, the victor of Russia and the master of Korea-they come to sit a t the little nation's feet, to find out what?-that her power is in Western learning and acceptance of Christianity. A bloodless revo- lution is on for these natbons. Their leaders are here. Especially is this so of the Chinese students- every province of the vast Empire is represented, mostly by the sons of wealthy leaders and officials whose families cannot be touched by the Gospel in their home land. IIere we have them all gathered to- gether into one grand center; their conservatism is being thrown down and we can approach them. They come to the services and listen at- tentively to the teaching of the Bible. The stream of young life is pouring into Tokyo and will pour back again with revolutioniz- ing effect-Western learning, and we hope Christian regeneration. Already some of the Chinese stu- dents have become Christians, re- turned to their own country and started schools at their own ex- pense. We never beheld such an

ship ; they greatly need chnractcr- training, and this they are recciv- ing from the schools in Japan and the teaching and example of the missionaries. Many come with no knowledge of affairs in general nor Christian belief. But they go back Christians and men of integrity to become leaders among their fellows.

I also visited Beyrout and had meetings in an old church. The neighbors came in to see why we were making so much noise. They sai'd they thought some one was dead. We told them many .were dead in trespasses and in sins.

I go from here to Assiout, Egypt, to help in a mission. Ghali EIanna, who has charge of the mis- sion, received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost in Jerusalem near the upper room where the disciples, whom Jesus loved, received the out- pouring of the Spirit.

Before I return to Jerusalem I want also to carry this message into Arabia. Write me a t Jerusa- lem, as our consulate always for- wards the letters, etc.

A Call For Helpers.

Johannesburg, Transvaal.

DEAR SISTER SMOCK :--

I want to make this letter strictly business. I know your soul is wrapped up in missionary work, so is -mine. I want you to realize in some degree what I can only tell you that Johannes- burg is unquestionably the great- est field for missionary work in the known world. I n the last three or four years the .natives from the very interior of Africa have been coming up to Johannesburg to work on the mines. They live in the compounds and on any Sunday forenoon

in most of the compounds. About 150 mines are in operation,

each of which employs from 1,000 to 3,000 natives who are accom- modated in compounds, buildings built in a square with a court in the center, where an additional building is placed as a kitchen. These compound& are scattered along the railroad a t tlie various mines for fifty miles.

The thing that my heart is on is this, that some of these. souls who have been waiting and pre- paring and praying and praying, and apparently getting nowhere, get into God's order of getting things from Him and c0rne.m God

has called them, and commence to use the faith they have got, and as they use i t they will get more.

Oh, beloved, God is doing a wonderful work here. I cannot tell you what wonderful mani- festations of the Spirit of a d that we see every clay, in depth of character a hundred times be- yond anything I have ever seen anywhere. But there is such a demand for workers a t this time. I could place a hundred workers today if they were only here.

Sister Smock, in Jesus' name do get a hold on some of tlie home people and get them into clearer light and real faith in God and be- lieve Him for coming here. There are

The Congregational Church a t Pretoria, after observing the heal- i14gs there, h a w commenced to vray for the sick, and one young m:ui in the last stages of consump- tion w ~ s healed in answer to tlieir prayers. One of the Baker ~n is - sions lias com~neiiced to pray for the sick. Two sick natives were brought to their meetings and were instantly healed and praised. Cod in a wonderul way.

I do have i t in my soul that

in America as a recruiting officer ilnd to t i l k ~ up some of these pea- ple who have calls and get them out here. These people that are wondering about where they are callecl to, if they have got a call anywhere, God can use them here. There are not only hundrccls of thousarids of natives, and China- men, but there are thousands of Alohammedans and natives of In- dia all over Africa. If they have got a call to India, this is India enough. If they have a call to China, this is China enough. B u t dear Sister Smock, one thing that I* can be assured of, you will not

enconrage anyone of doubtful or ipsincere experience to come.

Your brother in Christ.

Since the recent farnlne in India thousands of orphan chil- dren are ready to be taught the wily of salvation, and when the Lord is through with me in this country I will gladly go forth as He leads me to gather in the "other sheep" which the Master (has that are not get i n the fold.

I trust that all the children that read this page will earnestly pray for the heathen children that they may soon learn of Jesus. I n India alone there are over 100,000 little widows under ten years of age, 20.- 000 are less than five years of age. The large majority of women and children cannot read or write. Let us remember the golden rule and do t c others as we would bhat thcy should do unto us if we were in their places. Then we should not only pray but give. The heathen often puts us to shame when we read of how they often deny them- dives of the comfork of life in order to save their money to help spread the gospel. And y r t ehil- dren of Christian parents in so-call- ed Christian America spend many dollars each year for gum, cantl\. and other Inxuries when they (lo not send one dollar to the h(?athen.

As the blessed Christmas time rolls around let ns remember tlr(1 poor both in this and other co1111- tries, and then manifest the spirit of the Master who came to seek arid save that which was lost:
