What a wonderful season - the colors, the lights, the decorations! How could anyone not be happy

and smiling during the holiday season? And yet, we let ourselves become stressed and anxious and

we overspend and over schedule and overeat and overwork, etc., etc. My prayer for each of you is

that you let go of what is not essential to your happiness this Christmas. Christmas - pure and

simple is the birth of our Savior. All of the rest could vanish and the season would still be miraculous. It is

The annual Live Auction was a real success this year! Reverend Hardly

Everright entertained us and squeezed every last dollar out of every item. With his help our total for the evening was $1,101! This is the most we have ever made and it certainly will be helpful in financing our Quilt Show. THANK YOU to everyone who bought an item (over 30 different members bought at least one item) and to everyone who brought an item for sale. Without your generosity, the evening would not be possible.

AHQ Charity

The Isaiah 117 House was blessed on Dec. 5 with a wide variety of items/gift cards/money donated by AHQ members at our annual

Christmas party. Rachel Denny, a representative of the charity, attended the party

and updated members on the work of the House. Members are encouraged to keep bringing items to our regular meetings with an

emphasis on ages 10-18. T-shirts supporting the House are also for sale. See Martha

Williams if you would like a t-shirt.

Angela Cummings, our Quilt Show VP, needs to put a PR team together for getting posters, fliers in the shops and contacting newspapers, radio stations and TV channels. Also, for ideas from folks who live in Kingsport for how to better get the word out in their city. If you are interested in helping and brainstorming with the important team, see Angela ASAP!!!

Angie Harris called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. She welcomed the new members and those returning. They are: Gary Fletcher, Tony Grohs, Jennifer Buttry, and Carol Mahar. Visitors at our meeting were: Max Betancourt and Lynn Wacaser. Linda Hawkins read the prayer requests submitted and read from Philippians 4:10-13. 1. The minutes from the October meeting were reviewed and a motion to approve was made by Patsy Cantor and seconded by Karen Mustain. 2. The treasury report was reviewed and a motion to approve was given by Sharon Deming and seconded by Barbara Kirk. 3. The Christmas party sign-up sheet was made available for those that wished to review if needed. The party will be on December 5th at 6 pm in the Student Ministry building at Crossroads Christian church. Patsy Cantor reviewed some details of the party: bring items for the Isaiah 117 House shower, our gift exchange is Homemade items and decorating will start at 3pm. Suggestion to dress up for the party was given from Patsy. It will be a fun evening! 4. The Consortium is not taking a bus trip during the Quilt Shop Hop in June or the Mountain Quiltfest in March. We discussed that AHQ could get a 15 passenger van for the Shop Hop or a bus for the Mountain Quiltfest if there is enough interest. 5. TCGC Consortium Spring event is April 4, 2020. 6. Barbara Kirk announced the challenge for the 2020 Quilt Show, which is: “I Love To...” A handout of the rules were reviewed and given out at the meeting. You share your heart activity and provide a picture of you doing the activity. The Challenge quilts are needed at the April meeting. 7. Angie notified The Mountain Quiltfest of our entries to the challenge “It Flies”. A minimum of 5 entries are needed to participate. 8. Angela Cummings updated the work so far toward the Quilt show in the spring. She is working on getting an appraiser. Most are attending the Paducah Quilt show at the same time as ours. We will include a Bake Sale with the Yard Sale. It will be located in a side room this year. Volunteers are needed after the 1st of the year to help with advertising/PR. The registration form will be given out at the Christmas party. 9. The Fat Quarter drawing, Batiks, was won by Sandy Sanders and Sandra Shell. January Fat Quarter drawing will be “Animals”. 10. Portia introduced the auctioneer for the evening, “Reverend Hardly Everright! (David Guinn). Everyone had a great time! Angie Harris recorded the purchases and the money made from the entries.
