11 Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students

Following five committees are formed for the Redressal of Grievances: -

1. Anti-Ragging Committee

According to the provision of All India Council Technical Education (AICTE) norms, the Principal framed the Anti-Ragging Squad

during academic year 2012-2013.

Any student, guardian or teachers of institution can complaint in writing to the Anti-Ragging committee members, Heads of

departments and Hostel Warden to get assistance. The committee members enquire into the matter and if the student is found guilty, the head of

the institution will suspend him/her from the institution and can also forward the complaint to the police station for further action.

The anti-ragging committee is constituted with the following members.

2. Sexual Harassment Committee DAMINI:–

A new section known as the “Sexual Harassment Committee DAMINI” has started functioning in the college from the academic

session 2013-14.DAMINI is formed in order to keep the healthy working atmosphere among the faculty of Polytechnic. This Committee helps

women faculty and students to record their complaints and solve their problems related to resources and personal grievances.

It is important for women to protest against any behavior that they feel is unwanted and unacceptable. DAMINI Committee at Shivaji

3. Grievance Redressal Committee:-

As per the AICTE Notification, Grievance Redressal Committee is established with the objective of preventing unfair practices and

providing a mechanism to innocent students for redressal of their grievances. Grievance Redressal Committee addresses the grievances,

complaints and primary needs of the students, staff and secure public liberties for everybody. Complaints in writing from students, staff and

parents may be dropped in ‘Suggestion Box” or submitted to members of the Committee. The objective of the Grievance Cell is to develop a

responsive and responsible attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the institute. The

4. SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Committee:

As per the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, No. 33 of 1989, dated

11.09.1989), we have constituted SC/ST Committee inShivaji Polytechnic College.

The committee is formed to ensure fair treatment to Reserve Category staff and students. Institute’s overall ambience is extremely fair

for all the stakeholders including students from economically weaker sections. Administration helps the students to fill up scholarship forms

and complete other documentation to entitle their learning at concessional fees. Students are properly informed about different scholarship

schemes, deadlines etc. to avail the benefit.

5. Food safety committee:-

As per the food safety & standard Act 2006, we have constituted food safety committee in Shivaji Polytechnic College.

To maintain Food Hygiene and Food Safety and provide healthy and nutrient food for the students in the Institute is the prime motive

of this committee. The committee provides a forum to solve health and safety problems of students’ health from hazards of foods. An effective

committee can help to prevent injury and illness of students & also increase awareness of health and safety issues among the students and

develop strategies to make the work environment safe and healthy.
