Specifier Note: Determining the projection screen best suited for a project is based on many variables, including room configuration, projector placement, projection method, ambient light conditions, display brightness, projected image makeup (number of pixels) and screen maintenance expectations. These conditions should also be considered when determining screen placement and the surface required for optimum viewing.

Specifier Note: There are basically 3 types of manually operated screen systems. Type 1 refers to Small Venue Manual Screens to 8 feet × 8 feet (2.4 × 2.4 m) overall. Type 2 refers to Heavy Duty Manual Screens with viewing areas to 160 inches (4064 mm) wide. Type 3 refers to Large Venue Manual Screens to 30 feet × 30 feet (9.1 × 9.1 m) overall. Retain or delete Screen Type 1, Screen Type 2 or Screen Type 3 paragraphs to suit project requirements.

A. Screen Type 1: Small Venue Manual Screens to 8 feet × 8 feet (2.4 × 2.4 m) overall.

Specifier Note: Controlled screen return (CSR) mechanisms are available only with select models. Refer to manufacturer’s technical data sheets to determine the most appropriate screen model to meet project requirements.

1. Screen Operation: Manually operated, removable, retractable projection screen with rigid steel spring roller [with controlled screen return (CSR) mechanism] and camloc roller system for metal strip fabric attachment.

a. Include powder coated tubular steel slat at screen fabric bottom edge with [metal saddle with steel slat pull] [steel pull bail] securely attached.

For use with Type 1 Small Venue Manual Screens, Da-Lite® Screen Company, Inc., manufactures Matte White, High Contrast Matte White, Silver Matte, Video Spectra 1.5, and High Power® viewing surfaces. Each of these viewing surfaces has a different combination of surface finish, surface construction, gain and viewing angle and may not be available with all Type 1 Small Venue Manual Screens.

Specifier Note: Viewing surfaces manufactured by Da-Lite® Screen Company, Inc., for use with Screen Type 1 Small Venue Manual Screens have received the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification® (certification #90068) indicating that these surfaces meet performance-based standards to define goods with low chemical and particle emissions for use indoors. These viewing surfaces have also received the GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certification indicating that these surfaces comply with the State of California’s Department of Health Services Standard Practice (CA Section 01350) for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools. As such, GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified products can be used as a strategy to earn valuable credits in the CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools. Use of these viewing surfaces may also contribute points toward LEED® certification. Refer to manufacturer’s technical data sheets to determine the most appropriate viewing surface to meet project requirements and insert the viewing surface name in the following paragraph. Specify High Contrast Matte White with GREENGUARD Certification #90068-1, High Power® with GREENGUARD Certification #90068-2, Matte White with GREENGUARD Certification #90068-3, Silver Matte with GREENGUARD Certification #90068-4 or Video Spectra 1.5 with GREENGUARD Certification #90068-5.

b. Acceptable Materials: Da-Lite Screen Company, Inc., [______] Viewing Surface.

Each of these viewing surfaces has a different combination of surface finish, surface construction, gain and viewing angle.

Specifier Note: Viewing surfaces manufactured by Da-Lite® Screen Company, Inc., for use with Screen Type 2 Heavy Duty Manual Screens have received the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification® (certification #90068) indicating that these surfaces meet performance based standards to define goods with low chemical and particle emissions for use indoors. These viewing surfaces have also received the GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certification indicating that these surfaces comply with the State of California’s Department of Health Services Standard Practice (CA Section 01350) for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools. As such, GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certified products can be used as a strategy to earn valuable credits in the CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools. Use of these viewing surfaces may also contribute points toward LEED® certification.
