The Theatre Royal’s Applause Giving Program is a wonderful way for you to help us give something back to the community.

Since 2009 this program has created many opportunities for individuals and organisations to experience the magic of live theatre.

Your donation supportsTHEATRE ROYALThe Theatre Royal is your theatre. This beautiful building, built in 1837, has undergone many changes and has always been supported by its community.

2020 is a landmark year for Theatre Royal as the Studio Theatre joins Hobart’s original performing arts space in The Hedberg. Thanks to gifts to Applause we can ensure the original Theatre Royal is around for generations to come.

THE YOUNG AMBASSADORS PROGRAM (17 – 25 years)Our Young Ambassadors encourage other young people to visit the theatre by helping spread the word through social media and their friends and family. They receive free tickets to shows throughout the year, made possible thanks to Applause donations. In 2019 there were 12 amazing representatives for the Theatre Royal season.

LOCAL SCHOOL CHILDRENIn 2019 the Applause program paid for 337 students to attend the Theatre Royal. Your donation will enable disadvantaged young people to watch a show that they would otherwise not have been able to see.

CHARITY AND COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONSLast year tickets valued at almost $3,000 were purchased by the Applause program for charities around Tasmania. Your gift can add a little sparkle to someone else’s life.

TASMANIAN ARTISTSTheatre Royal supports the Tasmanian theatre sector. Applause donations can assist local producers with additional funding. Theatre, especially new work, is expensive, so every little bit helps.
