IS APPLIANCE INSURANCE WORTH PAYING FOR ? After observing a number of clients having to call professionals to repair their household appliances, I chose to write this article to help appliance owners with their decision to purchase insurance policies for their machines. This is the perspective of a professional appliance repair technician. WHY BUY INSURANCE? There are a number of reasons for purchasing a policy for your washing-machine, dryer, refrigerator, dish-washer and oven range. The reasons are stated and explained in this article. Take note that the appliances named herein are usually not covered under a home insurance protection plan. Dealer Advised It The store or company that sells these machines may push for you to buy some insurance or warranty. This usually sounds like a good idea. However, take into consideration that such extra money spent means more of your cash in the seller’s pocket. Also, such an appliance insurance or warranty may run out before your machine needs repair. To top it off, you could buy many of the same machines with such perpetual payments. One Client lamented that her 'Dealer' Company would not repair her oven because it is “too old”. This Client had an insurance policy that was “current” as of the time she made the call. Mandated By Law It may be required to have a home policy, but Appliance Insurance is usually optional. Before getting sold on such meaningless spending, check your state’s (and/or city) law on this matter. Taking time to call and look up what is required would be worth all the effort. At least you would have achieved something more helpful than posting or following some tasteless social media. Cheaper Repair Rate Lowering the cost for repairing your machine is another reason for buying appliance insurance. This is a fallacy. Let me explain it by the numbers: If an appliance insurance policy costs X per month, then in one year that would be 12X. The cost to repair any such machine is usually anywhere between X and 8X. Imagine paying 12X every year for 5, 10 years or more. You do the math. Appliance Insurance – 12X (and this continues every year) Repair cost – X to 8X Peace of Mind Most of us love the peace of mind that comes with an appliance repair just on time. This is what appliance insurance supposedly guarantees. Unfortunately, it does not work this way. Big companies are so busy, that it takes days (if not weeks,) to visit your house and diagnose your machine. After that visit, it could take another 10 days, or more, for their technicians to return with the part needed to repair the washer, dryer, refrigerator or oven. Mrs. O called to have her washing machine repaired after the big departmental store took about a month to visit her house for diagnostic purposes. She was running out of patience and “peace of mind”, so she called. Her machine was repaired in just one day by ARJOT. CONCLUSION Make appliance insurance decision based on g

WHY BUY INSURANCE?There are a number of reasons for purchasing a policy for your washing-machine, dryer, refrigerator, dish-washer and oven range. The reasons are stated and explained in this article. Take note that the appliances named herein are usually not covered under a home insurance protection plan.

After observing a number of clients having to call professionals to repair their household appliances, I chose to write this article to help appliance owners with their decision to purchase insurance policies for their machines. The store or company that sells these machines may push for you to buy some insurance or warranty.

Lowering the cost for repairing your machine is another reason for buying appliance insurance. This is a fallacy. Let me explain it by the numbers: If an appliance insurance policy costs X per month, then in one year that would be 12X. The cost to repair any such machine is usually anywhere between X and 8X. Imagine paying 12X every year for 5, 10 years or more. You do the math.

Appliance Insurance – 12X (every year)

Repair cost – X to 8X

Appliance insurance seems to be a worthy expenditure based on ignorance. Once the pros and cons are weighed, there are no significant advantages to having such a policy. It is far better, much cheaper, and definitely easier, to call a local appliance technician to have your appliance repaired just on time.
