2021 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Criteria for the Door Security & Safety Foundation Scholarships

This scholarship program is intended for those who are employed by contract hardware distributor firms, seeking technical education from DHI, including achieving a DHI credential or certification. Please read below for more information. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.

Qualifications:

1. Applicant must be (a) employed by a contract hardware distributor actively working 25 hours per week, and (b) must have been in the employ of the distributor for at least six months,

OR

Applicant must be (a) employed by a firm actively engaged in the sale or distribution of architectural opening products and (b) employed by said firm for a minimum of six months before submitting an application.

2. The winners must grant permission to DHI and the Foundation to publish his or her

name and include a photograph as recipient of the scholarship.

3. Those who have previously been awarded a DSSF scholarship are not eligible.

4. Candidates who hold an AHC, CDC, DHC, EHC, AOC or CFDAI will not be eligible.

5. Scholarship money must be used within 24 months from the time it is awarded or it will be forfeited.

6. Scholarships cannot be transferred to other people.

Deadlines:

1. Application (Part I) and Personal Information sheet (Part II) must be completed andsubmitted to the Door Security & Safety Foundation no later than July 2, 2021 to

[email protected].

2. Recipients will be selected by the DHI Awards Committee and will be notified in writingof the award in time to register for the 2021 DHI Fall Technical Schools.

Scholarship Funds:

All scholarships are valued at $2,000 and funds may be used to pay for DHI’s technical education, either in-person or online, for a period of 24 months from notification of the award. Funds may be used to cover travel to attend classes, as allowed by the scholarship donor. See page 8 for additional details.
