Application Note: Asymmetric XLM 04/9/13 1 Application Note – Asymmetric XLM Reflector Version 20111010 Introduction: To address the wall wash and indirect illumination market, Xicato has teamed up with industry experts to create a one-of-a-kind optical solution that out-performs many lamp/reflector combinations used in traditional luminaires. The combination of very high efficiency (LOR > 90%) combined with unprecedented beam uniformity across the illuminated surface makes it an ideal candidate to displace existing technologies. System: Fig. 1 shows a Xicato XLM w/ heatsink combined with the specially designed asymmetric reflector. The heatsink shown in Fig. 1 may be excluded by incorporating heatsinking into the luminarie housing design for a more aesthetic fixture. The inside curvature geometry of the reflector is critical to beam performance; the external flange design can be modified to accommodate different luminarie designs.     Design requirements:

    The fixture can be track mount (Fig. 2), pendant mount (Fig. 3), semi-recessed (Fig. 4), or billboard/signage mount (Fig. 5).

    Rotation angle from mounting surface: 30º (see Fig. 2).

    Distance from the surface (wall-wash & billboard applications): 1.5m (see Fig. 2)

    Ideal fixture to fixture spacing (wall-wash & billboard applications): 1.5m (see Fig. 3)
