Position: Scale A teacher, beginning teachers welcome to apply. Two positions, fixed term. Qualifications: The Birchwood School Board of Trustees is looking to appoint:
1. A New Zealand Registered Teacher or Provisionally Registered Teacher, with a current Practicing Certificate.
Attributes: ● Be able to nurture family-like relationships with students and their
whānau. ● Be able to show supportive relationships with colleagues and contribute
and participate in the corporate and social life of the school. ● Must be a good communicator with all staff, students and their whānau. ● Be a professional practitioner, able to plan programmes based on need
and monitor and review learning progress. ● Be reflective and willing to undertake further professional learning and
development, particularly in Russell Bishop’s Relationship-based Learning pedagogy.
● Be able to provide a creative, attractive and engaging learning environment.
OUR SCHOOL
Birchwood School is a U4 contributing primary school situated in the suburb of Stoke in the city of Nelson. Our current School Roll is 250 Birchwood School is a Decile 7 school Birchwood School is part of the Nga Akonga ki Whakatu Kahui Ako - Community of Learning (CoL) Our School Culture: Birchwood School is an urban school with a rural feel where family like contexts are encouraged and nurtured. Our school’s culture has been developed to align with Russell Bishop’s Relationship-based Learning pedagogy where relationships are at the centre of all learning. Our teachers foster caring relationships within their classrooms and use practices that promote learning for all students. Promoting both student and staff well-being is also central to the school’s culture. We follow the principles of PB4L and have systems and practices in place to support our students to make positive behaviour choices. As part of our involvement in PB4L we have developed our schoolwide GROW values. These values are the desired behaviours we strive to instil in our students and model as staff.
