Applications Breakout
'Killer Apps' (despite being the name of a new television show about software programmers)
usually succeed because they fill some need that was previously overlooked
impractical to build due to inappropriate, missing, or inefficient technologies.
Purpose of Breakout is
Look at the current space of application areas of messaging, presence, chat, simulation/graphics, integration and identify the past, present, and future killer apps.
Past: What is the first event-based killer app? Which applications should be revisited in the presence of ISEN?
Present: What are today's killer apps and who is building them?
Future: What applications do the new technologies enable?
What are next year’s Killer Apps?
What areas are ripe for defining a new application area?
What applications address more than one area?
What's hot now and what are the logical trends?
What is the 5 year outlook for the field?
