Hardware approach to ET

It is the application of physical science and engineering technology for developing mechanical or electromechanical equipments for instructional purposes.

It is based on the concept of service, i.e, using technology in education.

It is the byproduct of the scientific and technological development of the 20th century.


It refers to the application of technology to instrumentation to the process of teaching.

It mechanizes the process of teaching through the use of audio- visual aids like, radio, television, tape recorder, videotape, computers, projectors, chart, models, etc.

Teachers would be able to deal with more students with less expenditure in educating them.

It emphasis on the scientific way of teaching, designing, structuring and implementing teaching to achieve well defined objectives.

It is basically stands for the technique of developing and utilizing software.

Educational technology is the system of 5 M’s System : a set of things working together as parts of a

mechanism or an interconnecting network; a complex whole.

ET implies planning, implementing and evaluating as system in education according to scientific principles so as to achieve the educational objectives.

Input, process and output are the 3 different but related components involved in system approach.

It act as a link between hardware and software approach
