Student Mission Trips Benefit from Garage Sale

A full week of focus for the entire church family created the annual Garage Sale. Fellow-

ship Hall was brimming with items. There were other big items that were pre-sold and

never even had to be moved into the room. A great group of youth, parents, church folk

descended upon the church Easter evening and set up the room. A dedicated group of

church members helped sort and price Monday-Thursday. Youth and parents came each

evening to sort and price. A dedicated team was on site for the sale hours Friday, Satur-

day, and Sunday. Thanks to each person who showed up and happily said, “What can

I do?!” Together we made $6,200! Success!

The proceeds of this sale fully fund the mission trip opportunities of three student groups.

A seven day out-of-state trip of 15 CYF (high school youth), a three day in state trip of 15

middle school youth, and partially funding a week long January 2016 trip of DOC (college)

students. The proceeds toward student mission trips keep the annual church budget

from having to fund an additional $6,000 of ministry program.

office on or before VICTORY SUNDAY, May 18th. You will also be getting with the letter an

“Interest & Information” form so we can get updated information and what church activi-

Anne Tomlin- 92on April 29Not being at Worship and other church ac-

tivities these many weeks has been difficult. The concern and assistance expressed byso many in so many ways, has reminded meagain of what a loving family is First Chris-tian Church. Delicious food, beautiful cards, phone calls, and transportation assistancefrom so many have made this stressful timeeasier. The church flowers brought by Peggyand LarryVeatch and Eric Seaman were beau-tiful. Special thanks to Jimmy , Brad and Sallyfor pastoral care and to Coffman-Watsongroup for many things. I hope to see yousoon. ~Moray Kiehl

I have enjoyed the floral arrangement, let-ters, visits and prayers from so manythoughtful church members since my recentstroke. I appreciated Rev. Stagg’s visit too. Thanks to all my First Christian Churchfriends. ~Shirley Park

Avoid the Mulch!

Great efforts have been made to cover mudwith mulch and newly planted peony plantshave been placed on the island between thealley driveway and parking lot. We havehad a habit of treading on mulch, kicking itinto the driveway and then tracking into thebuilding. There are now more plants takingover the area north of Bethany Hall. Pleaseuse sidewalks and stepping stone paths toenter/exit. Thanks to Peggy Veatch and MaryDaugherty for their efforts in beautifyingthese areas. (js)

Church in Society Update

First Christian Churchis sponsoring Break-fast for Our Brethrenduring the month ofMay. This project pro-vides breakfast topeople in need. On average 20 people par-take in the breakfast. This is a wonderfulmission for FCC to be involved in and is sobeneficial to our community! With hostingBreakfast for Our Brethren in May we areneeding to provide breakfast every Satur-day during this month. There are manythings you can do to help make our monthof hosting a success!1) Provide food or drink for breakfast:

There is a list of needed food in thechurch office. Please stop by & signup to bring something!

2) Help serve breakfast on one of theSaturday mornings (7:00-9:00 am).

3) Donation of small toiletry items.4) Provide a monetary donation to have

food/drink/various items to be purchased on your behalf.

There are lots of ways that you can help outwith this important project. Please thinkabout how you can support Breakfast forOur Brethren during the month of May.

Choir Rocked, Rain Fell

Last Sunday the Chancel Choir totallyrocked! Drum and other percussion joinedthe fullness of voice bringing their Anthem“Halle, Halle, Halle” to fullness.

The only disappointment of the day wasfound in the rain that surely caused a poorattendance. One member of distinction washeard saying, “I have been baptized, I’m notafraid of a little water!”

The Garage Sale: a look at future years

Want to pre-shop? Sure, but you will need to volunteer at least 2 hours to the garage salesetup week.

NO TVs-Computer Monitors. Each year we have 10 TVs that did not sell/could not even begiven away. Jimmy then has to haul them and pay a fee per TV to be disposed of properly.

NO dirty stuff. Come on friends, some of you pass off some pretty nasty boxes of junk –that is, filthy. Remember, you are handing this off to a friend to deal with – it won’t sell, weare grossed out, and now have to throw it away. No thank you. The same goes for clothesand cat haired items. Bring stuff we can sell! Thanks!

NO drop-offs after Thursday noon. Seriously, we have spent four full days getting the G-Sale prepped and need Thursday night off in order to be present Fri-Sun. We are donepricing and really could have used your stuff when we had volunteers Mon-Wednesday.

There will be Team Leaders: Food team – feeding volunteers; week day leaders 8 a.m.-5p.m. managing volunteers; week night leaders 6-8 p.m. managing volunteers. These leaderscan and will need to come from the whole church membership. (js)
