Verse of the Week: Luke 12:2-3 “There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.”

Our FamilyThe congregation is invited to witness the wedding

ceremony of Lauren Durant and Jiles Herpel this Saturday at 2:00 PM.

Chaplain Peter Hofman has arrived safely in Afghanistan. He should have access to the internet. Words of encouragement can be sent to [email protected] (his military address is too slow) or

Steve Smits is feeling much better and received a good report from the doctor this past week. Please remember him in your prayers as he continues on the road to full recovery.

Please remember Ken Ten Pas as he continues to recover from gall bladder surgery. He continues to have pain and is undergoing more testing.

Marge Vande Streek had surgery this past week to remove part of her colon which had been blocked due to adhesions.  We are hopeful that this will help her recover. She expected to remain at Waupun Memorial Hospital through this weekend. Visitors are welcome.

We thank the Lord that Nancy Wierenga hoped to come home yesterday.  She has a new trach in and is able to swallow. Please pray for continued steps of improvement and recovery. Visitors are welcome.

We wish the Lord’s blessing on our college students who will return to campus in the next few weeks. May you have safe travels and good year learning about God’s kingdom and your role in it.

The Union UpdateAugust 2010

Ministry Programs Starting!!Summer is almost over and the Union is gearing up for a new year of programs! High school Campus Life will start meeting again September 13th on Monday nights with the middle school programs starting on September 14th. Middle school dances will start up again in September as well with the first one of the year on the 10th. We are still in need volunteers for the dances- it’s a very easy job and quite a bit of fun!

Welcome, Kim!!There has a been a staff change at the Union as well. Kim Venhuizen has joined our team as the new Union Manager. We want to thank Randy for his years of service and look forward to Kim’s involvement. Feel free to give Kim a call if you have any questions about Union needs or volunteering or would like more information. Her phone number is 920-382-4438 or email is [email protected]

Colorado TripThis year’s trip to Quaker Ridge Camp, Colorado was the biggest yet with 59 people going from this area and Davenport, IA. Pictures are on our website: www.fdlyfc.org Click on the Colorado pictures link. Our trip was a great time with a number of kids committing their lives to Christ for the first time and others recommitting their lives again. If you want to hear more about the trip and see additional pictures or view the video of the week talk to Scott or Kim and they would love to show it you.

Copier NeededThe Union is need of a copier for general use copying. If you have an old one at your home/business that is not being used please consider donating it to the Union.

Roof RepairedRecently a portion of the roof at the Union was replaced/repaired due to leaks that had been detected. The total cost of the repairs was around $17,000. Because of this cost the Union is extremely low on operating funds. Also, this is not the only part of the roof that needs replacing. We are looking for sponsors to help us replenish our general budget funds and repair other parts of the roof. If you would like to help out please call our office or a staff person- all gifts are welcome! You can also go to our website and click on the Donate Now button.

The Union is a local youth center located in the old middle school building in Waupun. It is a part of the Fond du Lac

Area chapter of Youth For Christ. Campus Life, Campus Life JV, Middle School dances, and High School Hang Out are a few of the events that take place at The Union. On any give week The Union could have between 50 to 500 teens walk

through its doors. For more information or to fulfill a need:

The People of Pakistan Need Your Help August 11, 2010

Dear First CRC – Waupun

United Nations official says the number of people affected by Pakistan's massive floods could exceed the total of Haiti's January earthquake, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and the 2005 Pakistan earthquake combined.

Relief workers in Pakistan say continued heavy rains are worsening the situation in the country where raging floodwaters have killed more than 1,600 people and affected 15 million. The floods have destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes and washed away roads, bridges, crops, and livestock.

Flood victims are experiencing extreme shortages of food, clean water, medical supplies and shelter. Millions of people are homeless, and there are fears that outbreaks of water-borne diseases such as cholera could create a health crisis.

In addition, the ongoing downpours are hampering relief efforts in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the floods have spread to the agricultural heartland of Punjab and further south along the Indus River into Sindh province.

As I write, CRWRC has already distributed 8,000 mosquito nets and 1,000 hygiene kits through its partner, Interfaith League Against Poverty (ILAP). CRWRC also plans to provide food aid to 8,000 families approximately 64,000 people for two months.

CRWRC is committed to a minimum $2.3 million response through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, partner grants, and funds raised through CRWRC supporting churches and individual donors like you. Given the scale of the disaster, CRWRC’s response will only increase.

I’m writing to you today to ask you to give to this vital disaster response.  CRWRC will distribute emergency food and thousands more tents, hygiene kits, kitchen sets and other non-food items. You can provide a mosquito net for as little as $5; a hygiene kit for $20; a kitchen set for $30; or a tent for $160. Please prayerfully consider how you can help CRWRC care for the men, women, and children left homeless by this disaster.

Please pray for the families and individuals in Pakistan who have lost their homes, lost loved ones and suffered injury. Pray for CRWRC and its partner ILAP’s employees and volunteers; for their safety, strength and perseverance.

Please give generously today! [To support this urgent effort, mark your donations “Pakistan Flooding” and place in any offering bag.]

Sincerely,

Andrew RyskampCo-DirectorCRWRC ~ Living Justice, Loving Mercy

The Gift Of Friendshipby Helen Steiner Rice

Friendship is a priceless gift

That cannot be bought or sold,

But its value is far greater

Than a mountain made of gold -

For gold is cold and lifeless,

It can neither see nor hear,

And in the time of trouble

It is powerless to cheer.

It has no ears to listen,

No heart to understand,

It cannot bring you comfort

Or reach out a helping hand -

So when you ask God for a Gift,

Be thankful if He sends

Nor diamonds, pearls or riches,

But the love of real true friends.
