Why You Should SponsorThe Javelina Chase Cycling Event first appeared in 2014, organized by some community bicycling enthusiasts with help from a range of Greenlee County businesses, government entities and individuals. In Year 2 it became an actual race. The next year, it grew to an omnium: road race, time trial and criterium. In Year 4 we added “gravel grinders” for mountain bikes, and we hosted the Arizona State Championships for Masters and Juniors.

Javelina Chase in 2018 is even more, and it will spread its wings to include nearby Lordsburg, New Mexico. “The Chase” in 2018 will be an omnium consisting of Saturday road races and time trials in Duncan, and a Sunday criterium in Lordsburg. Once again, mountain bike riders will hit the scenic back roads in the Ghost Mine Rumbles. And we’ll welcome back the Arizona State Masters and Juniors Championships, and the Collegiate Regional Championships. That’s not all: the bike rodeo for kids and the 5K walk/run will also return. And we’ll be sharing the Greenlee County Fairgrounds that weekend with the annual Spring Rampage.

It’s still about community, about health, about fun, about adventure. It’s still a benefit ride for scholarships for a Duncan High School student and a Lordsburg High School student. We will also make a donation, based on revenues, to the Duncan Valley Fire District.

Here is what’s in store for April 14-15, 2018.

Rider Raves“I’ve ridden in cycling fundraising events all

over the country, including some of the largest with thousands of riders, and others where the

registration fills up in hours. So I’m speaking from experience when I say the Javelina Chase

deserves the five-star rating I gave it.”

“What an awesome event!! Thanks to thepromoters and the town of Duncan for

supporting cycling of all kinds.”

Sponsorship LevelsIn-kind sponsorships count the same as money sponsorships. If you donate $100 worth of bottled water, your sponsorship is valued at $100.

We have created rewards for every level of sponsorship. When we refer to “your name,” that can be either the name of your business or other entity, or your own name, as you choose.

$50 Your name will appear on the lists of sponsors on our web page and Facebook page, and will be included in the list of sponsors read aloud at the start of the race. It will also appear on the sponsors list on the back of our T-shirt.

1. “Omnium.” In addition to the road races around Duncan, there will be a criterium in Lordsburg, New Mexico, 36 miles from Duncan. A criterium is a closed-course, timed event. Both of these will be big draws for competitive cyclists from across the Southwest and beyond. We will continue to have the fun rides as well. There is something for every kind of cyclist in this event.

$100 Same as the $50 level, plus you can hang your banner at the start line of the race.

$500 Same as the $100 level, plus your name will appear in a larger, more visible font on the sponsors list on the back of our T-shirt.

$1000 Same as the $500 level, but with your logo (or an even larger size font) on the sponsors list on the back of our T-shirt.

$2000 Same as the $1000 level, but with your logo (or the largest size font) at the top of the back of our T-shirt.

2. “Ghost Mine Rumble.” We are bringing back last year’s gravel grinder, this time with 25-, 35-, and 60-mile back-road courses that wind through the stunning mountains and old mining country northeast of Duncan.

All sponsors get a poster.

3. Family. We will again feature a Bicycle Rodeo for kids age 3 to 13, organized by Duncan PTA. In addition to a lot of fun, there will be a bicycle main-tenance clinic, bicycle safety instruction, loaner bikes for kids who don’t have their own, and fun giveaways. Families can join in the 5K run while the cyclists are out on the courses. And after the Saturday events, the fairgrounds will light up with all the excitement and fun of the Spring Rampage.
