A total of 29,064 documents were
lodged during April 2009 which was a
decrease of 3% (960 documents) from
March 2009 (30,024). It also showed
a decrease of 4% (1,219 documents)
from April 2008 (30,283).
The average daily document lodgement
for April 2009 (1,530) showed a 7%
increase from March 2009 (1,430) and
was 6% more than April 2008 (1,442).
Transfer documents lodged in April
2009 (6,635) increased by nearly 8%
from March 2009 (6,173) and 2% from
April 2008 (6,492).
The number of mortgages lodged
during April 2009 (7,734) was similar to
March 2009 (7,751) but fell by 9% from
April 2008 (8,506).
BUSINESS ACTIVITY - APRIL 2009
Average daily searches (6,283) fell by 8%
from the previous month (6,829) and 5%
from April 2008 (6,640).
The number of Freehold subdivisional lots
created (1,206) fell by more than 23% from
March 2009 (1,576) and 34% from April
2008 (1,831).
The number of Strata Title lots created
(1,096) rose by a substantial 58% from the
previous month (695) and was 4% more
than April 2008 (1,051).
Landgate Cloisters
Landgate’s city shopfront, Landgate Cloisters, is being expanded to significantly enhance the range of services available and to raise Landgate’s profile on the Terrace.
Executive Director Mike Bradford said that additional space in the heritage-listed Cloisters building will increase Landgate’s corporate presence and provide an opportunity to increase revenue.
“The new premises are adjacent to the existing Landgate office in the QBE Building which has created an opportunity to establish the location as a Landgate Precinct,” he said.
“Landgate Cloisters will now have St George’s Terrace street frontage including prominent signage which will provide great exposure for the Landgate brand.
The design work is currently underway and the new facilities will officially open at the beginning of July.

1,145 (17.3%) were in the $200,001 - $300,000 consideration
price range.
The number of mortgages lodged during April 2009 (7,734)
decreased by a minimal 0.2% from the previous month (7,751)
and 9.1% from April 2008 (8,506).

Finding and obtaining a copy of a statutory document (Certificate of Title,
Deposited Plan, etc)
Average daily searches (all types) during April 2009 (6,283)
decreased by 8% from March 2009 (6,829) and 5.4% from April
2008 (6,640).
The average daily title search for April 2009 (4,019) decreased
by 10% from the previous month (4,464) and 5.9% from April
2008 (4,272).
Number of subdivision lots
There were 194 Freehold Survey Deposited Plans lodged during
April 2009 creating 1,206 sub-divisional lots. This was a
substantial decrease in the number of lots of 23.5% from March
2009 (1,576) and 34.1% from April 2008 (1,831).

Number of strata title lots
During April 2009, 192 strata plans were lodged creating 1,096
strata lots. This was a large increase in strata lots created of
58% from the previous month (695) and 4.3% from April 2008
(1,051).
Number of new lots
New lots created by Freehold Survey Deposited Plans and by Strata Plans.
Includes existing lots that are extinguished but not subtracted.
The total of 2,302 new lots created during April 2009 increased
by 1.4% from March 2009 (2,271) but showed a decrease of
20.1% from April 2008 (2,882)

Target of 75% of Documents within 5.2 Days
During April 2009, the average number of days to register a
transaction against a Certificate of Title was 10 days, higher
than the previous month of 7 days.

Target of 5 days
April 2009 recorded an average of 3.6 days to register a
Certificate of Title over large subdivisions. This was similar to
the previous month (4 days) and met the Performance Indicator.
