“Give it to Jesus”
When worry comes knocking on your
door, stop it on the doorstep or it will
move in and take up residence. 'Cast all
your anxiety on him because he cares
for you' 1 Peter 5:7 God cares about
the things that worry you and prey up-
on your thoughts. He cares about them
more than you do. Not one nagging,
aching, worrisome, gut-wrenching,
blood-pressure-raising thought escapes
His notice. Because 'you are his per-
sonal concern', He watches over you
day and night. What qualifies as a
worry? Anything that robs you of joy,
(negativity of others) Anything you
can't change (your employer closing down,) Anything you're not responsible
for, (crisis in others’ lives) Anything
you're unable to control, (family mem-
bers salvation) Anything that torments
you, (attitude of others), Anything that
keeps you awake when you should be
asleep. (The behaviors of our children,
financial issues) All of that ―stuff‖
needs to be transferred from your
worry list to your prayer list. The Bible
says, 'Don't worry about anything; in-
stead, pray about everything. Tell God
what you need, and thank him for all
he has done. Then you will experience
God's peace' Philippians 4:6-7. Give
each worry, one by one, to God. The
more you practice doing this, the more
exciting your walk with Him will be-
come. You'll be amazed at how easily
He handles things that overwhelm you.
Remind yourself that He's able to
handle it, willing to handle it, and
waiting for you to give it to Him.
'Cast your burden on the Lord, and He
shall sustain you.' Those who live
worry free are those who keep casting
their burdens on the Lord until it be-
comes as natural to them as breathing! So breath a little easier - Give it to Jesus!

The sheer volume of sales flyers,
coupons and advertising that we
are inundated with is enough to
make your head spin. Cut through
the clutter: focus on what you're
looking for and compare prices
for the best deal.
Distinguish between needs and
wants: Before you start buying
toys and specialty items, decide
what you need more: the product
or the money.
Look for sales: You can often
find everything you need on the
sale rack.
Wait for end of season sales: Pick up next year's bathing suit
for a fraction of the cost at the
end of the summer.
Shop online: The Internet offers
many items used or at a discount.
Try to find sites that offer free
shipping. Online great shop-
ping. Amazon & Ebay - Sells
new & used items (some bid-
dings) Overstock.com – new
items, great prices - all shipping
$1.95. However, shop online
sites that are reputable. All in-
formation should be easy to find
on their site. Phone number,
return policies, shipping infor-
mation and product information.
Check out any online com-
plaints or check with others to
see if they are familiar with the
site. As always shop a secure
site, or call in your information.
Shop at closeout stores: They
may not be pretty, but you can
find great deals at stores like
Big Lots, Marshalls and TJ
Maxx.
Head to second-hand stores: Goodwill, thrift stores and pawn
shops offer many quality used
goods at low prices. With the

Find a garage sale: One man's
junk is another's treasure. Spring
cleaning time is here. People are
selling items to make extra
money, which benefits you.
Consider alternatives: Expen-
sive does not always equal qual-
ity. Check out professional rat-
ings from Consumer Reports and
read what customers say online
to find out if you're getting the
biggest bang for your buck.
Avoid fashion trends: Don't
spend a ton of money on an item
that you won't want to wear next
month. Stick with classic styles
that you'll wear often.
Now you've got your necessities
down, next we’ll focus on how
to save money on the fun stuff.
We all know that tension can wreak havoc
on our eating patterns. But the right food
can often help tame mindless munching
cravings and better yet, actually lower
overall anxiety and its symptoms. Eight of
our favorites: Dark Chocolate: High in
flavonoids, which are lauded for their re-
laxing properties (chamomile tea is another
great source), chocolate also contains
phenethylamine, a chemical that enhances
your mood. The darker the chocolate, the
more healthy substances you're getting in
your diet, so look for bars that are 70 per-
cent cacao or higher. Skim Milk: Turns
out that a warm glass of it really is calm-
ing. One study found that women who
drank four or more servings of low-fat or
skim milk every day were about half as
likely to experience stress-related PMS
symptoms than those who drank less than
one serving a week. Oatmeal: Carbs help
you produce serotonin, a calming hormone
that helps fight anxiety's negative effects,
which is probably why many of us crave
carbs when we're stressed. Go with the
craving and choose healthy sources. Oat-
meal is high in fiber, which means that
your body will absorb it slowly. In one fell
swoop, you'll prolong the serotonin
boost, keeping yourself feeling full for
longer (and on less) and making sure
your blood sugar's in check. Salmon:
Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids
abundant in fish like salmon, can help
reverse stress symptoms by boosting
serotonin levels, and that an omega-3
rich diet can also help suppress the pro-
duction of the anxiety hormones cortisol
and adrenaline. Walnuts: They've been
shown to help lower blood pressure,
which is critical for those whose hearts
are already working overtime thanks to
high adrenaline levels. In fact, research
so strongly backs their health benefits
that the U.S. Food and Drug Administra-
tion goes so far as to recommend 1 1/2
oz per day. Sunflower Seeds: A good
source of folate, which helps your body
produce a pleasure-inducing brain
chemical called dopamine. Spinach:
Studies show that magnesium, which
you'll find in leafy greens like spinach,
improves your body's response to stress.
Blueberries Their antioxidants counter-
act the effects of stress hormones like
cortisol on your body.

Seniors on the Move
Ingredients:
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
(Regular or 98% Fat Free) OR – can of Cream of Chicken
1 cup water 1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 tsp black pepper 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
3/4 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
Directions:
Stir the soup, water, rice, paprika and black pepper in a 2-quart shal-
low baking dish. Top with the chicken.
Season chicken with additional paprika and black pepper, cover the
baking dish.
Bake at 375°F., for 45 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through
and the rice is tender.
Ingredient Note: For creamier rice, increase the water to 1 1/3 cups.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with a steamed broccoli and wheat rolls.

Does it seems that there is never
enough time in the day? After work
you have ten things to do and three
hours to accomplish them. With
church activities, school events, gro-
cery shopping, homework, cleaning…
the madness never ends. Then you
realize, I have to feed the family. We
will usually stop to pick something up.
The good thing is, you fed them, it
was quick and convenient. The bad...
It wasn’t healthy, you probably didn’t
take a moment to pray, it wasn’t great,
you miss the sit-down dinner and con-
versation with the family and it was
expensive. (4 fast food meals average
$5.00 per person) Although most of
our “stuff” have to be done. Schedule
your day to include a meal with the
family. This one dish recipe will allow
you to multi-task; cook, assist with
homework, do a load of laundry, make
some calls or even time to just sit and
reflect. In the end you have a healthy
meal, time and conversation with family.
