Thermal Imaging Camera

For more thermal imaging photographs visit:www.northfieldecocentre.org/energy-

services/thermal-imaging

Northfield Ecocentre is delighted to announce the arrival of its Infrared Thermal Imaging device.

Ecocentre front wall:

A normal visual spectrumcoloured picture.

The infrared spectrumwhich can tell us how muchheat an area is emitting. The front wall of thebuilding is producing verylittle heat, therefore notmuch heat is escaping.

NOT Northfield Ecocentre:In contrast this picturedemonstrates that a lot of heatis escaping through the wallsbut not through the windows;which suggests they havedouble glazing but no wallinsulation. There is also a crackin the wall which is releasing alot of heat (white mark belowthe window).

Building work has begun!…at the home of LauraJackson, the first winner ofour Energy Makeover!

The findings from handheld camera will be incorporatedinto the assessments which will aid us in pinpointing areasof unnecessary heat loss. The pictures belowdemonstrate how thistechnology works.

Scaffolding goes up.

Northfield Ecocentre havepartnered with the EnergySaving Co-op JerichoFoundation on this project.

Following a visit Laura has had her homeassessed for its energy efficiency.Ecocentre trained energy advisors energyadvisors have also given her some tips onways she can use less energy and savemoney. Building work has now begun toinstall solid wall insulation and improveher heating controls.

Laura receives anEnergy PerformanceCertificate (EPC)

Thanks toeveryone who came along. The money will help us to plant 1400 acrossNorthfield over 2 years.

In our February we launched a new Northfield gardeningscheme called Grow Zone, to pair local people up to transformtheir back gardens together. We now have five gardensregistered and work on the first garden will begin on:Saturday 21st April, at 10.30am (call ahead for venue)
