1 Volume 22, Issue 5 April, 2012 S pring is here, and if it's spring, that means it's also time for a TCT musical! This year's offering will be Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with lyrics by Tim Rice. Straight from the book of Genesis, this tale of sibling rivalry uses excitement, energy, and eclectic musical varie- ty to tell the tale of Jacob and all his sons, including his fa- vorite – young Joseph. Beginning its life in 1967 as a 20- minute “pop cantata” for a school concert, Joseph was ex- panded and eventually brought to Broadway in 1982. Since then the show has enjoyed several major revivals, including a successful production at TCT in 1998. The family-friendly storyline follows the life of Joseph starting with Jacob’s gift to Joseph of the coat of many col- ors. It continues with Joseph’s jealous brothers selling him as a slave, his journey to Egypt and rise to power as an advisor to Pharaoh, and culminates with Joseph’s trium- phant reunion with his father and brothers. The story is told completely in song with catchy tunes such as "Any Dream Will Do”, the haunting “Close Every Door”, and the energet- ic “Go, Go, Go, Joseph”. The talented cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicol- or Dreamcoat is listed on page 2 and contains many very familiar names, as well as some welcome new ones. The hard working production staff is led by director Craig Helmuth, music director Carean Dendy, and assistant direc- tor Maria Geno. Jauna and Calvin Ellis have assisted with choreography and choral direction on a set designed by Marianna Coffey. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Lyric box office at 662-844-1935. Adult tickets are $20 and student tickets are $10. TCT Presents May 10-12, 2012 7:30 p.m. May 12, 2012 2:00 p.m. Sponsored by: This show is sure to sell out. Please order or swap tickets early!

New and Improved Krewe! T he Lyric Krewe, TCT’s fundraising

and volunteer support team, has reorganized, and is seeking to grow its membership. Three committees have been formed including Publicity, Hos-pitality, and Partnerships. Through the reorganization, there is a place for anyone who wants to get involved with TCT as a volunteer. “Whether you are a season ticket holder, love being in productions at TCT, or if you just have a passion for great theater, the Lyric Krewe has a place for you,” said Jennie Bradford Curlee, Lyric Krewe president. “By enhancing and building this great group of volunteers, we hope to fur-ther the mission of the TCT board of

directors and enable even more peo-ple to experience the wonderful com-munity theatre that is right here in Tu-pelo.” The Publicity Committee, chaired by Mallory Davidson, is responsible for poster distribution for performanc-es as well as marketing and promotion of Krewe events. The Hospitality Com-mittee, chaired by Katie and Jason Pannell, secures ushers for all TCT performances and assists with such events as sponsor and patron nights. Finally, the Partnerships Committee oversees Music, Monet, & Margaritas, the Krewe’s largest annual fundraiser, and aids with other events including concerts at the Lyric Theatre and Elvis

Festival. The Partnerships Committee is chaired by Renee Baldwin. The Lyric Krewe wants YOU! Member-ship is free and is open to anyone interested in sup-porting TCT by volunteering during regular season performances, market-ing performances, and helping with fundraising opportunities.
