SPORTS & SOCIAL EVENTS II ISLAMIC VIEW ON EASTER

Easter also called resurrection day of Jesus Christ is a holiday and globally celebrated among some Christian denominations. To them, it is a celebration of Jesus’ resurrection dead. Easter is celebrated on first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox any day between March 22 and April 25. Islam does not recognise Easter and is not in support of it because Muslims believe Jesus did not die. According to the Quran and the Sunnah, Jesus was not crucified for anyone’s sin. He has not died yet, but was raised alive and will return.Though both Christians and Muslims believe in Jesus but Muslims do not worship Jesus, they only see him as one of the prophets sent by Allah to guide mankind. Islam has two celebrations- Eidul-Fitr and Eidul-Adha. Muslims love and believe in all the prophets including Jesus. But anything Easter is strictly unislamic

SPORTS & SOCIAL EVENTS FOUNTAIN LEAGUE RESUMES WEEK FOUR After a short break necessitated by the University calendar, the Fountain University League Committee has rescheduled the week four of the league to commence Saturday May 3, 2014. This rearrangement, the committee ex-plained would make the fixtures itch-free. You would recall that the league which kicked off Wednesday April 2 this year has had so many rigid encounters between teams. Brace FC and Heikens FC are currently at the top of the log with 6 points each, while TIC which used to be the snake with the deadliest venom finds itself curled pretty at the bottom of the table. VC BURIES IN-LAW AS AG. BURSAR GIVES OUT DAUHGTER IN MARRIAGE The Vice –Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Ademola Raji buried his father-in-law on Sun. 6th April, 2014. The fidau prayer was attended by principal officers as well as other members of staff. Meanwhile, the Ag. Bursar, Alh. Silifat Alli-Balogun gave out her daughter, Habibah, in marriage.
