Chanute Historical Museum April 1, 2015 6:00 PM - Chanute Public Library.

Andrew Roberts, President called the meeting to order. Roll call was taken and the minutes of the March 4, 2015 meeting were read by Nancy Kernick, secretary, and they were approved as corrected. The Treasurers report was given by Jim Whaley. It will be filed for audit.

Strategic Planning Committee of Jackie Ward, Jim Whaley, and Craig Reaves have completed their rough draft and each board member received a copy to review. A Special Meeting to review the report will be on April 22, at the Museum Building. On March 23, 2015, the Chanute City Commission met and discussed the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Chanute, Historical Society and the Genealogical Society for the New Beginnings Building, 411 South Central. Murray McGee, Chanute Regional Development Authority (CRDA) was the Initiator of the Agreement. The Genealogy Society will move all of their items into this building and the Historical Society will move specific items into the building to assist with research. The Membership List has been updated and the Newsletter Report was given by Sharon Carpenter with plans for mailing the second week of April. Mailing labels will contain the expiration date for member dues. A Thank You Note was read from the children attending the Growing Place Childcare Center in Humboldt who had toured the Museum. A newspaper article was shared on Emma Marie Baird, born October 19, 1912 in Chanute. An email had been received requesting information about the Burlington Overall Factory. The next meeting will be May 6, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. at the Historical Museum, 0 East Elm.
