STAFF A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR MATT Yahoo for volunteers. Over 60 households have responded already committing hundreds of hours of assistance to our building project. It is all willing souls, giving of themselves. And, it isn't just the walls of steel and wood that are torn down. Listen to how Gretchen Pierskalla from our Isaiah Action Team describes this next phase of the project. As de-construction begins, we will be breaking down walls and opening doors. It is what Jesus did in his ministry on earth. Breaking down walls and opening doors is the ongoing work of the church: creating spaces for people to gather and work where there once was no place, creating something new from something old, and creating something where there was nothing. This is what God does in creation and is still doing in and through us now. As you join in, think of the new life we are creating room for. Our groundbreaking on the 29th of March declared our purpose to Open Hearts, Hands, Home. The arrival of our Mission Builder Team from all corners of the USA declares that we are not just a local project; we are a ministry reborn in the faith of many Pilgrims who love seeing congregations move forward to meet the needs of a changing world. Thank you for being a part of this great effort. What better celebration of the resurrection of Christ than to renew our commitment to great ministry, events, gatherings in great spaces for decades to come!

Shalom, Pastor Matt Bersagel

Future sign-up links will be posted in the website newsletter. Contact the church office with questions about staying involved with Families Moving Forward. . SAFE FAMILIES A new opportunity has came up as COG becomes a facilitator for members who would like to host children in need, in their own homes. Pamphlets will be available at the Welcome Desk. SafeFamilies is a program that is short term foster care, family friends/advice or babysitters for foster families. These are not county foster care, but the step before, and it's all volunteer through a Christian-based program.

Since 2005, Safe Families for Children has offered sanctuary to thousands of children, minimizing the risk for abuse or neglect and giving parents the time and tools they need to help their families thrive. The ultimate goal is to strengthen and support parents so they can become Safe Families for their own children.

You choose when to get involved and how long. E-mails are sent to you in a weekly distribution list, and you choose the situation you'd like to be involved with, or take no action. From Lori, 'My family has benefited greatly by seeing needs and having our eyes opened in new ways. We don't share our address or last name and have the option of privacy at our discretion. We've had three different placements, one for a weekend, one for two weeks and one for a month. They become part of whatever your family is doing and all involved learn from each other. I have been educated on how many need help, even for short term, to get back on their feet and avoid escalated situations that could be much worse without help.'
