Message From Estate ManagementDear member, Interesting and exciting times ahead with the FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) project nearly completed. Consumers can now look forward to ultra-fast connectivity that will take their internet experience to a whole new level. Although the contract to install the infrastructure and backbone of the fibre-network was awarded to Telkom Business, the Board of Directors decided to follow an “open-access” approach, whereby a member can make use of any service provider for internet services and fibre-optic packages. Please watch this space! The Clubhouse Committee approved a project whereby a distinguished chef will present cooking classes to domestic workers . Pilates classes will soon commence as well, whilst the mid-month exclusive food market is proving extremely popular with our residents.

We had discussions and meetings with Garsfontein Police, the City of Tshwane and our own security regarding cable theft near the cemetery area. Despite our combined efforts, cable thieves struck once again early in the morning of the public holiday (Freedom Day), resulting in most of the Estate being without electricity, to the utmost frustration of our residents.The terrain near the cemetery, where these cables are situated , is not easily accessible and the nearby location of Cemetery View squatter camp adds to the problem. Our Security Committee will review the situation and make further recommendations to the Board of Directors.

New Security Site Manager

Jakes Swart has been appointed as the new security site manager by Accon Solutions, our current guarding service provider.Jakes has been actively involved in the security industry the past eight years as armed reaction officer, supervisor and manager. He replaces Andre Stobbe who will be utilised elsewhere by Accon.

Cochrane Installation:The City Council granted the HOA permission to incorporate the Municipal Park next to the Clubhouse to the Clubhouse grounds.

Permission was granted from the Council to enclose the back portion of this area for safety reasons. See the before and after pictures. The Security Committee is

waiting on service providers to submit their quotations to install lighting and an electrical fence on this perimeter.

We have asked permission from the Council to extend the front Clubhouse wall across the front portion of the Municipal Park. Waiting on approval.

ACCESS CONTROLPROCEDURESResidents: Access cards to be obtained from Gate 1. New residents to submit their lease or purchase agreement to Gate 1 - the Estate Agent/owner to be present. A copy of your driver’s licence will also be required. An International driver’s licence is also acceptable. There is a limit on access cards. Full Title Stands 10 cards per household. Sectional Title Stands 6 cards per household.

The purpose of the access cards is solely to assist residents residing in the Estate to enter and exit the Estate.

Applications forms are available from Gate 1 should you have the need to apply for extra cards – but approval is required from the Security Committee before an extra card will be made. Access cards are programmed only for the area where the resident reside. Residents who need to enter other areas within the Estate on foot or by vehicle must show the Guard their access card thereafter the visitors’ book must be completed. For safety reasons access will not be granted within other areas if the access card is not presented. Children: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult in order to exit or enter the Estate on foot. Children older than 12 are welcome to receive access cards. These cards are only activated to enter and exit the turnstiles – on foot. The cards cannot be use to enter or exit the boom gates.

Domestic & Garden Workers: The resident to accompany these workers to Gate 1 to have and access card made. The RSA ID will be required. If you choose not to make an access card these workers must report at the guards office with their IDs and a permit will be issued at a cost of R20.00 per person per week. These cards are only valid for 6 months thereafter the resident has to confirm employment before the card can be activated again. NB - Non South African workers must be in possession of a valid passport and work permit.

Each visitor / contractor who enters the Estate must complete the visitors’ registration book. The cost of an access card is R60.00. The cost of a permit is R20.00 per week. 9

ACCESS CONTROL PROCEDURES CONT.Visitors: Visitors that enter by vehicle must have a valid driver’s licence and the vehicle registration number must correspond with the vehicle licence disc. Visitors who enter on foot must also complete the visitors’ registration book thereafter the owner will be contacted to fetch the pedestrian-visitor from the gate.

Contractors: Building and other service providers: Short term: Permit procedure: RSA IDs required, R20 per week per person. Long term: Access Cards required. RSA ID required. These access cards will only be valid for 1 year. Thereafter the card must be replaced and employment confirmed.

Emergency Services: Plumbers: Geyser burst - Resident to disconnect the water. RSA IDs required. These permits will be free of charge for one day only. Net Care 911 & Police: Security protocol.

Estate Agents who are not registered: The resident will be contacted to grant permission. Visitors’ registration book to be completed.

Please note: Electrical power failure or water cuts affect the entire Estate. Management will contact the City of Tshwane to lodge the failure or water cut. We will inform the residents of the cause and the reference number. Usually the council cannot provide the timeframe in which the problem will be solved. Therefore, we ask for the residents to be patient in this regard.

COOKING CLASSES FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS AT THE WILDS CLUBHOUSE

The excitement of cooking and food has been a passion of mine since I can remember. The smell of food represents comfort, warmth, love and security in a home. I cook from the heart and I have an urge to create dishes that are tasty but also easy to prepare. I try to carry this spirit forward in my cooking classes, where I teach people that cooking is achievable for everybody. The emphasis is on easy, healthy dishes and new cooking skills. My aim is to teach and inspire others to cook.

This course is aimed at beginner cooks. It is a foundation course where learners are taken through the very basics of cooking, including techniques and terminology. Please note that it is a prerequisite that your domestic worker must be literate in English, i.e. they must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.

I am a qualified chef with a thorough knowledge of ingredients, flavours and techniques. I’m perhaps best known for my cooking classes in Pretoria, which I’ve been giving for more than 30 years. But I’m also the author of three recipe books and the winner of various cooking competitions. As a result I’ve received a lot of media coverage in magazines, newspapers and on TV.

The cooking class for domestic workers is a hands-on and more intimate class (limited to 12 students) where students work in groups and prepare the recipes themselves with my guidance. They will be involved in both the cooking and the eating of these
