Greetings Christites …
This edition covers information on Medical Camp organized by
Alumni Association in support with Narayana Health City and
Shekar Eye Hospital for Staff and Students. We thank the
management, staff and students in making the event successful.
We would like to make a special mention Dr Nanjegowda N M,
Former Dean of Science for his contribution towards alumni
scholarship.
Christite, who have made the Alma mater proud through their
achievement, are highlighted in this issue. Chapter events and
reunion programme involving Alumni along with University
updates are covered.
Congratulations to Department of Hotel Management for
celebrating Silver Jubilee and School of Education for celebrating

Letter of Appreciation from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kochi for c o n d u c t i n g o n e d a y programme on “Business Presentation Skills” on 27 August 2016 by alumni and students of Department of Professional Studies.
150 students from School of Commerce attended the programme.
We Congratulate Ms Sruthi Hariharan (BBM - Batch of 2009) for winning the Best Actor (Female) for Beautiful Manasugalu at 2016 Karnataka State Film Awards.

Arthavidhya is a skill development training program in finance and accounting for commerce background students with an innovative concept of VIRTUAL OFFICE. To evaluate the students who have taken the training program, viva-voce was conducted on 28.01.2017 & 04.03.2017 for around 2000 students.
The panel member consists of parent, alumni and corporate representatives associated with Department of Professional Studies. Around 100 alumni were presented for the event as panel members.

Ms Supriya Lohith (BSc CMS - Batch of 2006) performing at Magnovite - Version6.0 on March 2-4, 2017 organized by Faculty of Engineering.
A classically trained singer, born and brought up in a musically influenced family from Bengaluru. She was trained under the guidance of her grandfather “Vidwan Munivenkatappa” and learnt light music from playback singer Ms Manjula Gururaj. She is currently pursuing her Playback singing dream and has sung in over 100 Kannada, Telugu & Tulu films. She has performed across the globe and has sung in over 500 shows nationally and internationally.

v “Best Female Playback Singer-2013" award by KIMA (Kannada International Music Awards).

The Department of Hotel Management celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 25 February 2017. It is indeed a proud moment for all hospitality Christites to commemorate 25 glorious years of service in hospitality education. Around 80 alumni attended the event as part of reunion across the batch.
The department felicitated Ms Mallika Alice Gowda (BHM - Batch of 2004) and Mr Arvind Sagairaju (BHM - Batch of 2004) during the event for their outstanding achievement.

Blessing and Inauguration of Christ University Bannerghatta Road (BGR) Campus
Auditorium on 18 March 2017. Air Conditioned Auditorium with Seating Capacity of 1700. The Chief Guest for the Programme was Dr Sudha Murty, Chairperson, Infosys Foundation.
University Updates
2/9 Coy National Cadet CropsCadet SGT Pooja Sharma and SGT Yamini Sharma represented Karnataka & Goa Dte at the prestigious Republic Day Camp 2017 and marched at the Rajpath. Three cadets from 2/9 coy completed the tough and demanding TSC in the year 2017. 11 SD cadets participated in the Basketball event at the National Games 2016, representing Karnataka and Goa Dte. and won Silver medal and 9 SW cadets represented the state in the volleyball event at National Games 2016-2017.
In the spirit of attending to the call of national service, three of our cadets - CDT. Wiwangbou Wijunamai, Rahul Singh and Rion Varghese - have joined the Indian Army.
SUO Ben Chrisbin represented India in the YEP to Vietnam. SUO Aditya from Air Force Wing represented India in Kazakhstan. Our cadets made their mark in the Army Attachment Camp at Secunderabad; National Integration Camp, Delhi (inclusive of the PM RALLY); Basic Leadership Camp, Mysore; Advanced
Leadersh ip Camp, As sam; Advanced Leadership Camp, Allahabad; and the Skiing Camp in Gulmarg.
The crowning glory was the winning of the Best Institution Award by the cadets of the Senior Wing, at the State level. Further, 15 commendations were won by our company, which is inclusive of the DG Commendation Award won by Lt Sajina Begum and the Chief Minister's Commendation Award bestowed on the University Vice Chancellor - Rev. Col Dr Fr Thomas C Mathew, in recognition of his unflinching and exemplary support to the NCC.

Mr Shelwyn James, Winner SPEAK FOR INDIA, Karnataka Edition held on 14 February 2017.
He received specially designed trophy, merit certificate, cash prize of Rs.1 lakh, scholarship worth Rs 1.5 lakh and award of Rs.50000 for the institution.

Mr Mayur D Bhanu won Silver Medal and was Awarded as Champion of Champion in the Karnataka State Olympic Games 2017 in Shooting Event (Small Bore Rifile and Pistol 7 Shotgun).
Students of B.Tech - Mechanical Engineering (Mr Zain Shariff, Mr Abinsha Joseph, Mr David Jose, Mr Linto K Philip) have presented the paper CFD Analysis of Solar Flat Plate Collector with Semi Circular Baffles in the International Conference Conducted by Asian Society of Academic Research in Association with IITR (International Institute of Technology Research), Chennai on 12 March 2017.

The team bagged the first prize for Excellent Paper out of 15 groups presented.
In the month of February 2017, the sports teams explored new altars of success.
The Women’s Throwball Team won the Sacred Heart Inter-Collegiate Tournament and got placed as runners-up in Spiel-2017 and Khel, sports tournaments hosted by St Joseph College of Commerce and Mount Carmel College respectively.
The Women's Basketball Team also finished as the runners up in Jyothi Nivas College and winners of Mount Carmel College sports tournament. The Men's Basketball Team was winners in the Jyothi Nivas College and Mount Carmel College sports tournaments.
The Men's Volleyball Team was the second runners up of VIE-2017 tournament, Jain University. They also bagged the runners-up trophy in Mount Carmel College tournament.
The Women's Football Team was the winners of Spiel (St Joseph College), Sphygmus (Jyothi Nivas College) and Mount Carmel College sports meets whereas the Men's Football Team finished first in Jyothi Nivas College, Mount Carmel College and Presidency University tournaments.

She served the University as Counselor, Centre for Counseling and Health Service from July 2008 - March 2014.
We offer our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies to her family and friends.
