Dear Friends,
I’ve never invested a lot of me and effort into April Fools trickery. I admit that I am impressed with
the creavity of others and do enjoy hearing about some of the gags that others pull on that day and I have
been “go#en” a few mes by others. Whenever we watch an April Fools prank being played on another, we
wait for the moment when the gag is revealed. When you hear the words, “April Fools,” you know you’ve
been had.
There are numerous accounts concerning how April Fools’ Day actually got started. Some have to do
with the change from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. Others, cite how spring at mes “fools” us with
errac weather. I suppose it doesn’t really ma#er. What’s wrong with a day dedicated to harmless pranks if
no one is embarrassed or hurt by it? At least you know there is the possibility of being “fooled” when there
is a day set aside for it.
I do find it a bit ironic that this year Easter falls on April 1st. That’s right…Easter is also April Fools’ Day.
Let me share a few thoughts I’ve had about that.
When the first day of the week came around and the women made their way to the tomb, didn’t they
believe someone was playing a trick on them? They went with the intenon of compleng the process
necessary for giving Jesus a proper burial. When they arrived at the tomb, they certainly didn’t find what
they expected to find. They wondered if someone had moved the body. When they thought Jesus was dead
it was as if someone said, “April Fools, He’s not here for he has risen!”
When the religious leaders of the day beat Jesus and nailed him to the cross, they thought they had done
what was necessary to take care of their problem. Here was this guy who was constantly srring people up
with an understanding of God that flew in the face of the very things those religious leaders had been
teaching. Here was this radical who quesoned their authority and caused others to do so as well. Now, he
was dead and in a tomb and their problem was over. “April Fools!” Not only was he alive but now he was
no longer limited by earthly restricons. His true work of turning the world upside down had only just
begun.
If we could have looked behind the curtain and had a view at that me concerning what was going on
in the spiritual realm, I wonder if Satan was holding a victory celebraon. Sin has won the ba#le and death
would now reign supreme…or so he thought. But then the rumble began. The curtain was ripped apart…the
earth shook…the tomb burst open and Jesus was alive. “April Fools!” The ba#le is over and the victory has
been won. Life has won over death. Righteousness has won over sin. Grace has won over law. Jesus has
done everything necessary to bring all who would believe back into relaonship with God.
Easter is about the greatest most radical reversal of events that anyone could ever imagine. The One
who was dead is now risen and he lives and reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords. No foolin’!
Together with you in serving the living Savior,

JOIN AN ADULT EDUCATION CLASS!
On Sundays at 10:00 AM there are a variety of classes open to anyone who is interested.
Bible Class: God is speaking. Do you know how to listen?
Facilitators: Pam Catlin Locaon: Fellowship A
Many people have a tough me believing that God sll speaks. God spoke to His people in ancient mes and in
mysterious ways, but how do we hear His voice now? God sll communicates with His people, but He o<en
speaks in a whisper—not to make it difficult to hear Him, but to draw us close. In this 4-session series tled
"Whisper," Mark Ba#erson teaches what it means for Chrisans to discern the voice of God in their lives. He will
introduce the seven love languages of God—each of them unique and enrely divine. By learning to tune in and
decipher each language, Mark equips believers to hear God’s guidance and grow closer to Him.
Beginning April 22, please join us in the Bible Class for a new series by Andy Stanley titled "In the
Meantime." Through video and Q &A we will explore what to do in those difficult times of waiting. When there's
nothing we can do. We do not see a way forward and we do not see a way out. Andy Stanley answers the
questions, “What do I do in the meantime?”
Fellowship: "Are We Happy Yet?"
Facilitator: Jeannie Phelps, Locaon: Fellowship Hall B
This will be a 2 session Biblical study of contentment vs. consumerism. Following that the group will look at "The Goodness of
God" a study wri#en by Jack Hayford, founding pastor of Church on the Way in Van Nuys California and acclaimed Chrisan
author. This study will last approximately 5 weeks
The third study will be Titus: Good Doctrine and Godly Living in which we will examine a le#er from Paul to Titus, his close
friend and protégé. At the me, Titus was leading a troubled church on the Island of Crete. This study will last about 6 weeks.
Everyone is welcome to come to our class. You will be able to join in immediately and know what is going on, so drop in anyme.
HomeBuilders Class
Facilitator: TBD, Locaon: Room 100
At the me of producon, next class has not been chosen.
Watch the dings for details.
Homebuilders is a class that is open to all, interacve and
conversaonal, focused on fostering fellowship and
discipleship in such areas as marriage and family
relaonships, parenng, financial stewardship, and other
parts of our daily walk with God.

SALT—Single Adults in the Lord Together:
Psalm 119
Facilitator: Donna Frank, Locaon: Room 101
Even the most mature believers face dark nights of the soul.
During those times, God feels distant, His Word dry, and the
vibrant intimacy we knew before seems absent leaving us
wondering, “Where is the Lord in this?” In Psalm 119, Pastor
Matt Chandler aims to introduce viewers to the words of King
David who experienced similar seasons of life. Psalm 119
demonstrates the power of God’s Word in the lives of believers
and its ability to provide a warm blanket for the soul.

Dear TPC Family,
Jim and I are touched by the love and support we received in honor of my mother. Thank you for the lovely plant.
Love, Betsy Jones Huber
Dear TPC Family,
Thank you so much for the beautiful potted plant that you sent us in memory of Stan’s mom, Ruby Newbold Wood.
Whenever we look at it, we are reminded of your thoughtfulness and support during this very difficult time for our entire
family. In addition, we also appreciate your cards, notes, phone calls, visits, and prayers following my hip surgery and Stan’s
recuperation from the flu. It has, indeed, been an eventful few months. Thank you again for all your concerns.
Sincerely, Retha and Stan Newbold and Family
Dear TPC Family,
Let me tell you how much I thank you for your prayers and care for me during my knee surgery and recovery. There are
not enough words to express my depth of appreciation and gratitude to each of you. I could feel your love and prayers to
God on my behalf. You touched my heart deeply my dear Christian family and I ask God's blessing on you always.
Mary Louise Grant
Dear TPC Family,
I don't have the vocabulary to adequately express my appreciation to Ray and Diane, all the TPC staff, and the members of
the congregation for all the love, support and concern that has been provided to Bob and to me in the last two years. I thank
you from the bottom of my heart. Friends and family who are not part of the congregation are amazed at all you have done
for us during Bob's journey. You have truly been our family here! The memorial service was beautiful and I thank the
Men's Ensemble for their rendition of one our favorite hymns (It is Well With My Soul). The reception for all attendees at
the memorial service was beautiful - thanks to Diane and all of you who were involved in that. Thank you again and
may God bless you, one and all!
