Campus News
Spring has arrived at Westlake High School. We are enjoying the spring weather and the spring perspective that summer is approaching quickly. We would like you to highlight a few changes in our spring activities and scheduling. In the month of May, we will have multiple testing events going at our campus. We will have Advanced Placement testing (AP) from May 7th-May 18th. We have STAAR testing on May 7th (Algebra One), May 9th (US History), and May 10th (Biology). We will then have Final Exams beginning on May 22nd and ending on May 25th, Our Prom will be on May 19th as well. Those three weeks will feel very different for we have traditionally had a week between the end of AP Testing and exams. This is truly a one of a kind of ending to an academic year at WHS. Large events such as Pedernales and Senior Service Day will take place in late April to help with our scheduling for our students and staff.
Our spring sports are very active as soccer begins playoffs, golf is playing in their district contests, the district track meet is next week, and baseball and softball are hitting away. Tennis is also busy with their spring season. Zenith, our dance program’s premiere event will take place on April 19th-21st. Our choir, band and orchestra are in competition season and are planning for their final spring concerts. Robotics is heading to their largest competition in April as well. Our seniors are also selecting their college/university choices while others are looking at gap years or looking to enter the military or work force. Please enjoy the collage displaying our students’ talents and loves.

Speaker Series
FeatherDuster
Parents - If you have any topics that you would like to see part of our Speaker Series next year, please email me!
We are still participating in our mindfulness training! We cannot thank the PTO enough for this opportunity. We look forward to finding ways to bring this to the students next year. If you would like the experience what we are doing, please take a class at the PeaceBox. Tell them you are a Westlake parent and you can take your first class for free! If you or your business would like to sponsor the actual PeaceBox coming out to the school, contact me or Staci over at the PeaceBox.
Stay Healthy Chaps!

The Featherduster was recently awarded Columbia Scholastic Press Association's highest award, the Gold Crown. The Featherduster print magazine combined with the online westlakefeatherduster.com competed in the General Magazine-Hybrid category. Only five other schools in the country received this award, and Westlake was the only Texas school represented.
Editors-in-chief for this year are Conor O'Bryon and Aro Majumder.
