The March OCV Social was held Tuesday, Mar

19 at Macallans Public House in Brea. It was

hosted by Jane and Jerry Wheeler. Thirty-seven

people attended the dinner. The atmosphere

was nice and there was plenty of time to

socialize during the evening. The event had a

St. Patrick’s Day theme and attendees dressed

in green to celebrate the holiday. For dessert, a

St. Patrick’s Day cake was served. Thanks to

Jane and Jerry for setting up the social and

providing the tasty cake for dessert.

Las Vegas Route 66 Fun Run

May 2-5, 2019

Page 4 April 2019 O C Vettes Orange Pits Newsletter

Ron and Michael Molendyk want to remind those

attending the Route 66 Fun Run that we will meet

at 7 AM on May 2, 2019 at the Denny’s located at

Nutwood Ave and the 57 Frwy. The drivers’

meeting will be held at 7:15 and the group will

leave at 7:30. If you plan on eating breakfast at

Denny’s make sure you arrive early and leave

enough time.

Ron suggests that you check the 10-day weather

forecast to determine the clothes you should

pack as the weather this time of year is subject to

change. Bring folding chairs, snacks, drinks for

Friday happy hour.

CHOC Charity Information Paul Kerper recently suggested that the OCV

charitable contribution to CHOC might want to

focus on a more personal level instead of a

generic contribution to “The CHOC Children’s

Foundation”. The Cherese Mari Laulhere Child

Life Department at CHOC Children’s strives to

normalize the hospital environment for our

patients and families. “Normalizing” the hospital

experience is the process of making things like

medical equipment and procedures feel less

strange or foreign. By doing this, patients and

their family members can feel more at ease

while at the hospital and will be able to focus on

what is most important: feeling better. The club

will be discussing this idea in the upcoming

months.

Governors meetings for 2019:

NCCC Update 2019 Poker Run Info The 2019 OCV Poker Run will be held on

Saturday, August 10, 2019 beginning at 10 AM.

OCV would like to continue the past success of

this event. All automobile makes and models

are welcome, not just Corvettes. Spread the

word to your friends that it’s a fun ride, followed

by a great lunch and lots of raffle prizes. Early

registration is $30 with extra hands for $5 each.

The Poker Run will begin at Enderle Center at

the 55 Frwy and 17th St. in Tustin, and it will

end at Prego Restaurant in Tustin where lunch

and raffle prizes will be held. First prize is $300,

2nd prize is $200 and third prize is $100.

We need to start collecting prizes for the Poker

Run. You can donate a gift basket by collecting

themed items to group together such as food for

an special dinner, gardening or barbecue

supplies, or any items that will go together to

create a larger gift. You can donate gift cards of

any kind including automotive, restaurant, retail,

coffee shops, or gift cards that can be used

online. Wine and alcohol always make good

prizes. Be sure to think of items that both men

and women would like.

The success of the Poker Run is based on help

and participation from everyone in the club.

Please help make this another great year for

the OCV Poker Run.

Model A Pancake Breakfast The Orange County Model A Ford Club held

their 58th Annual Pancake Breakfast fund-

raiser on Sunday March 24 at Hart Park in

Orange. This year was another great turn out

with hundreds of Model As and other classic

cars on display. Frank Reese of OCV is one of

the organizers of the breakfast, and several

OCV members attended to show our support.

Frank thanks everyone who came out.
