Instructions:

1. Cut out all materials from PDF links. 2. Invite the child. 3. Invite your child to help gather the materials needed. 4. Decide how many fish to place on each side. 5. Have the child count each set of fish. 6. The child will place the less-than sign, <, greater than sign, >, or equals sign, =

depending on the amount of fish on each side. 7. For example, in photo 1 there are three fish on the left side and two fish on the

right side. The greater than sign should be used because there are more fish on the left side. 3 is greater than 2.

Page 8: April 27-May 1 Curriculum & Activity Guide...EL PINGUINO The penguin EL OSO POLAR The polar bear SONG: PASA, PASA, PASA. (Pass it) PARA!!! (stop) Children sit in a circle and I pass

8. In the second photo, there are two fish on the left side and three fish on the right side. The less than sign should be used because two is than three.

9. In the third photo, there are two fish on the left side and two fish on the right side. The equals sign should be used because two is equal to two. There is the same amount of fish on each side.

10.Continue to do this with different quantities on each side. 11.When you are done return materials to the proper place.

Extensions:

● You can use print outs of the numerals to place underneath each quantity of fish. ● You can use numerals only to challenge the child. ● If your child is ready use 2 digit, 3 digit and 4 digit numbers.
