Lessons Learned
1. Who is already invested in doing the work? Start there.
2. Create the vision together AND standards of care – hold each other accountable.
3. Everyone brings resources to the table (mostly sweat equity).
4. Money gets it started, but money alone won’t keep it going.
5. Add to the work in a way that is responsive to stakeholders and the community.
6. Ongoing meetings for training, support, and just being together.
7. Two most important budget items: unmet needs fund (for clients) and food budget (for meetings).
