A Note From Fr. Bill
“Christ is risen. He is truly risen!” But what does this mean for us? Among other things the
proclamation means that death does not have the last word and that God’s love for Christ
and indeed for all of us is stronger than death.
The resurrection happened to Jesus and is given to us as a gift and as a promise. We have
been given the mission to go tell all people about the love of God and the forgiveness of
Christ in the resurrection. As you gather with family and friends, as we eat the wonderful
foods and drinks we gave up as a Lenten discipline, let us not forget the wonderful gift of life
God gives us in Jesus Christ.
On behalf of all the St Mark the Evangelist Church Staff, I
want to wish you a blessed Easter. So today of all days, let
us celebrate the truth that Christ is risen. He is truly risen

Welcoming New Members into the Body of Christ
With joy, we announce the names of our brothers and sisters in Christ who were baptized, confirmed and joined
with us in the Eucharistic at the Easter Vigil:
Baptized and Confirmed:
Ron Shockey and Adelaide Luckey.
Confirmed:
Mary Nicholas, Donica Kueker, Daniel McAfee
In The sacraments of Christian initiation, we are freed from the power of darkness and joined to Christ’s death,
burial, and resurrection.
Baptism incorporates us into Christ and forms us into God’s people. It brings us to the dignity of adopted children,
as we are a new creation through water and the Holy Spirit. Hence we are called and are indeed the children of
God. By signing us with the gift of the Spirit, Confirma-
tion makes us more completely the image of the Lord
Easter Vigil Baptism & Confirmations
April 28th is Home Mission Sunday
Next week, we will take up the
Catholic Home Missions Appeal.
Right now, over 40% of dioceses
in the United States are consid-
ered mission territory because
they are unable to fund essen-
tial pastoral work in their com-
munities. Your support of this appeal eases the struggle
of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you
can support this appeal. Find more information at

ATTENTION:
MATURING ADULTS AT ST. MARK THE EVANGELIST! IF YOU
ARE 55 AND OVER, YOU ARE INVITED!
The Ministry for Maturing Adults at St. Mark wants, and
needs, you to mark your calendar for either 4:30 p.m. or
7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019, and attend a Lis-

WHAT IS A LISTENING SESSION? It is an interactive gath-
ering where the attendees participate in a conversa-
tion about their wants, needs, and expectations as
they think about this new ministry at St. Mark that has
been created to serve parishioners 55 and over. Partic-
ipants will be part of a small group, with a table facilita-
tor and a scribe, and will respond to four specific, open
-ended questions that are designed to provide guid-
ance for future planning by the Ministry for Maturing
Adults Steering Committee.
The Listening Session will also help link the Ministry for
Maturing Adults with people who are willing to assist
with future Ministry needs. Attendees will be able to
sign up as a volunteer for future events or for service on
a Ministry for Maturing Adults subcommittee.
We hope you will join us for an evening of conversation,

LENT IS LIFE CHANGING
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, one of the most significant moments of the Church year. During Holy Week, we journey with Christ from his triumphant entry into Jerusalem to his final meal with his closest friends and ultimately to his death on the cross. As we walk with Jesus during this week, we call to mind the countless men, women and children who even today carry heavy crosses: crosses of hunger, of homelessness, of a lack of resources or security. Thomas Awiapo, CRS consultant in Ghana, says “There are so many problems in the world that sometimes we get overwhelmed and paralyzed, and the tendency to do nothing sets in. In the midst of all these challenges and difficulties in our world, sometimes all it takes is a small act of kindness and a little act of love to change a life, to save a life.” This year, as Lent gives way to Holy Week and Holy Week to Easter, please share your Easter joy by giving generously to CRS Rice Bowl. Your gift can change a life…save a life. Bring your Rice Bowl gift to [church or school] the [weekend or week of] of [Date]. Learn more at www.crsricebowl.org.
