LOCC Club Summer Leadership Development Program July 18 28 at White Knoll High School In an effort to get youth more involved in addressing many of the challenges they face, the Lexington One Community Coalition (LOCC) Club Summer Leadership Development Program provides the participants with the following: Leadership Development, Community Networking, and Mass Communications skills to develop and implement special campaigns during the 2016-17 school year. The goal is to create a positive influence on youth in the Lexington One School District. The Summer Leadership Development Program meets over the summer from July 18 28, 9 a.m. 12 p.m. at White Knoll High School. Participants will need to provide their own transportation. My Voice, My Vote 2016 South Carolina Bar YLD Instagram Scholarship

Deadline: Monday, April 18 – Scholarship Award – $2,000 This is a video entry and you must have an Instagram account to enter the Competition. Video entry should address one of the following topics: What is the most important issue for the 2016 presidential candidates to address? Why? Should there be a limit on how much money presidential candidates can spend on their campaigns? How much and why? Do political ads influence your opinions? How? Is voting a right or a privilege? Explain. Full instructions can be found in the scholarship drawer in the Counseling office. A representative from the Neff Company will be in the LHS Cafeteria during all lunches and in

the LHS Main Office from 3:30-4:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 to take orders for letter jackets.

Letter Jacket Price is $120 (includes varsity letter L and name on chest). If you order your

jacket on campus you will be saving $30 (you are saving on shipping and handling, and

processing because of a bulk order). However, you can order your jacket online at

Main Office. As part of a Senior Experience Project, a collection drive for items that will be sent to deployed members of the military will be held today through Friday, April 15. Yearbook distribution day is Monday May 16. We DO NOT give books out early nor can friends pick up your books for you. In order to get your yearbook, you will need to come to the designated table during your ILT with your ID badge. Parents: Should you need to pick up a book for your child, you may come to the Main Office with your photo ID on Monday, May 16 and we will have a staffer bring the book to you. Should you come after May 16, book pickup will only be available Monday-Friday from 2:10-3:00 p.m. You may come to the Main Office, or your student can come by room C106 during this time. We WILL NOT be giving out books before May 16. Faculty: If you ordered a yearbook for your child, the book will be at the faculty table under your name. South Carolina Business Week, July 24-29, 2016. Each year, Business Week offers young adults the unique opportunity to interact with business

leaders along with their peers to learn more about the ins and outs of a successful career. Highlights include keynote speakers, business simulations,

field trips to places like BMW, talent night, a “Shark Tank,” all while gaining a sneak peek at what college life is like with dorms, cafeterias, and

teachers.

Carolina Wildlife Center Summer Opportunity

Junior Volunteer Program For 15-17 year olds

This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are interested in animal related fields such as wildlife biology, veterinary medicine, zoology, or any of the animal sciences. Come by the Counseling office in the scholarship

drawer to receive information and an application to be completed by the May 1 deadline.

Attention Wildcats! Do you want to represent LHS through dance for the 2016-17 school year?

Being on a performance/competitive dance team can transform your high school experience. LHS is looking for gifted, committed, and enthusiastic individuals with dance experience. the injured athletes at practices, games, and in the training room. This is a good opportunity for students

The Nathan M. Wolfe Law Enforcement Cadet Academy will be held at the South Carolina Criminal

Justice Academy, 5400 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC, June 18 – June 24, 2016. The cost per cadet will

be $175 and each cadet will pay a $25 registration fee to be sent with the application. Cadets must be

rising high school students of good character, age 15 to 18 who have not reached the age of 19 by June 1,

2015 who will return to their communities with a better understanding of our state's law enforcement

system. The program is educational as well as entertaining.
