Aamir Khan is 49, but can give any younger actor of Bollywood a run for his money. The actor-producer says his genes and healthy

lifestyle are to be credited. When asked about the secret behind his youthful looks and fit frame, he said: “What should I say...a lot of it has to do with my genes, and I always eat healthy. I stay conscious about what I eat.” He is also always determined to get the look right for his characters - so, it was no wonder that for the 2008 film “Ghajini”, Aamir went out of his way to get eight-pack abs. Even for last year’s “Dhoom 3”, he had worked hard on his body for a long time. Aamir has been entertaining Hindi film audiences for over 25 years. The actor is currently seen as the host of the second season of TV show “Satyamev Jayate”, which deals with socially relevant issues.

Towards the end of 2013, we had reported that Farhan Akhtar would soon be seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film Raees. However, now we hear that Farhan has opted out of the film. Apparently, the actor walked out of the film due to date issues, since the shoot of Raees would clash with Farhan’s dates that have been

allocated to Bejoy Nambiar’s film. However, as reported earlier, Farhan will still be involved in the film as a producer, since Raees will be produced by Excel Entertainment. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees will feature Shah Rukh playing a Gujarati character, and is slated to go on floor in mid-2014 and will hit screens on Eid 2015

Fire in Shilpa Shetty’s houseBollywood diva Shilpa Shetty Kundra luckily escaped a mishap, when recently a room in her house caught fire. Reportedly, there was a short circuit in the actress’ house in Juhu following which a fan caught on fire. Fortunately, according to source, the situation didn’t turn out to be quite grave, as the fire was brought under control within an hour by the vigilant staff and there was no need to call the fire department.

Bollywood actress Tabu, who is known for her impeccable acting abilities, reportedly turned down a significant role in Zoya Akhtar’s film as she did not want to play Priyanka Chopra’s mother in the film. A Mid-Day report says that the director asked Tabu (42) to play Priyanka’s (31) mother. Since Tabu was not comfortable playing an older woman, she refused to be a part of the film. The talented actress has a wide choice of roles offered to her. Her performances have been liked by audiences & critics alike. Further to reports, since she was getting better roles, she refused to play the mother of a grown-up woman. The actress was last seen as Salman Khan’s sister in Jai Ho. She will soon be seen in Vishal Bharadwaj’s film Haider.

There has been buzz for a while about Nargis Fakhri being part of a Hollywood production. Tongues have been wagging that the ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Madras Cafe’ actress will feature in a film being produced by her ‘good friend’ Uday Chopra who oversees Yash Raj’s Hollywood wing. Now there is news that Nargis will be seen as a sexy agent in a Fox production staring Jason Statham (‘Transporter’ fame) and Melissa McCarthy (who was seen in ‘The Heat’). The film will be directed by Paul Feig and is described as a spy comedy. Nargis was born and raised in the US, so it will be back home for her.

It’s rumoured that Akshay Kumar recently bumped into ex-girlfriend Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra at the wedding reception of actor Vinay Virmani’s (of Breakaway and David) sister Tina in Canada. An onlooker said, “Akshay and Raj exchanged pleasantries, without any awkwardness. They had first met at Amitabh Bachchan’s Diwali party and even then, had said a polite hello to each other. On both occasions, Shilpa was not with Raj.” Interestingly, both Akki and Raj share the same birthday, September 9. And this is something Shilpa very sportingly jokes about.

Salman Khan walks out on Akshay Kumar! Upset Kajol declares Ranbir Kapoor a better actor than Shahrukh Khan!

Salman Khan’s generosity with special appearances is well known. But the cameos apparently come with a condition; the star has to be the centre of attention.

Unfortunately, Akshay Kumar was not aware of the rider. Sallu and Akki were to shoot the title track of Fugly, sung by Honey Singh. While the young cast of the film being produced by Akshay, including Mohit Marwah, Vijender Singh, Arfi Lamba and Keira Advani, were excited to have Salman on set, their happiness was short-lived. After the shoot started, Sallu realized that it was Akki who was hogging most of the limelight in the special song. Revealed a source, “Sallu did not know about the details of the song and was briefed when he arrived on the set. Since Akshay had more screen time in the song, he casually walked off after shooting the first stanza of the song, much to everyone’s shock.” Mirror has learned that despite the efforts made by director Kabir Sadanand, Sallu refused to shoot the rest of the song, which

was centered on a lyrical exchange between Akshay and Sallu. So what did the makers do with the song? “There is no verbal exchange between the two now as Salman didn’t shoot for the whole song in the first place. They have somehow managed to wrap it up with Akki and the rest of the actors,” said the source.

Recently, Kajol was at her candid best when she appeared on KJo’s popular chat show Koffee with Karan. Here’s the gossip:

Kajol and Ayan Mukerji were the second pair of cousins to share the famous black couch on Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan. And Kajol, as always, was at her chirpiest best on the show. Apart from refusing to accept Armaan Kohli as a part of her family by saying that it’s a topic for some other day, Kajol even said that Ranbir Kapoor is a better actor than her favourite co-star Shahrukh Khan. SRK and Kajol’s onscreen chemistry and their friendship have always been talked about. In fact, even though Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone and other such pairs have sizzled onscreen, no one has matched up SRK-Kajol, hai na? So, it

was quite surprising when Kajol declared that Ranbir is a better actor than SRK. Well, what could be the reason that Kajol feels this way? Could it have anything to do with the Son Of Sardaar vs Jab Tak Hai Jaan controversy? In 2012, Shahrukh’s JTHJ clashed with Kajol’s hubby Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar at the box-office. What’s more, Kajol wasn’t invited to SRK’s film’s premiere. Though Kajol has maintained that her relationship with YRF is cordial, we wonder if there has been a permanent damage to her relationship with Shahrukh. And while Kajol has given her opinion, we doubt many will agree with that, hai na? Anyway, now that Kajol has declared that the Kapoor lad is a better actor than King Khan, we wonder if she will ever share screen space with the latter. Sigh!

For Boman Irani, Farah Khan’s directorial “Happy New Year” has something ‘magical’ about it and he is confident that the comedy-drama will be a blockbuster. The film stars Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan in the lead roles. “The buzz around ‘Happy New Year’ started the day shooting kicked off in Dubai. There is something magical about that film. I don’t know what exactly it is. May be the group of six actors and Farah Khan is magical and there is a great amount of interest,” the actor who told reporters. Fans vote Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ as the most eagerly awaited film of 2014. “We all know ‘Happy New Year’ is going to be a blockbuster. But how much it is going to touch people’s heart, that we don’t know yet,” he added. Set to release Oct 24th, the film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.

There was a time when Yash Raj love stories used to involve a small town girl and a big city boy or vice versa. Then came a time when the stories became a saga of urban romance and its trials and trtribulations. In the 90s, Yash Raj banner went international with movies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, but today it is all about small town romance. From Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to Ishqzade to Sudh Desi Romance, it is all about the rustic appeal of a small town. Lovebirds who are rewriting the laws of love and everything around it. Another interesting aspect is the layer of comedy surrounding the whole angle of being in love. Gone are the days when a heart broken Simran of DDLJ used to sit by her window in Punjab and imagine Raj’s mandolin playing Tujhe Dekha Toh

Yeh Jaana sanam while silently bowing down to the wishes of her overbearing father. Today Yash Raj lovers take everything head on with a knack to slip out of any situation leaving at least a smile on the viewer’s face. Daawat-e-ishq is one such love story that is going to be released from Yash Raj stables. The leading lady in the movie, like many previous YRF films is Parineeti Chopra. She plays an out and out outgoing girl (as usual) opposite the dashing aditya Roy Kapoor who made everyone fall in love with his chic, dapper rock star look in Aashiqui 2. However in Daawat-e-ishq, Kapoor is sporting a rather rustic look with a moustache and short cropped hair leading to a lot of gossip that he is playing a small town goon in the movie. The movie has been written and directed by Habib Faisal who also wrote Bewakoofiyaan. Known for movies like Ishqzade and Do Dooni Chaar, one can expect some seriously hilarious comedy and equally touching love story from this national award winning director. Daawat-e-ishq, as mentioned earlier, is based in a small town where both the characters

live and thrive. Despite being a romantic comedy, the movie addresses a serious issue of dowry, which is still prevalent in the rural areas of India. Chopra is doing what she does best (and we are not completing complaining... yet) but it will be interesting see how will she make it different from her previous portrayal of an outgoing small town girl. From a sad, melancholic singer to a lead in a comedy, Kapoor is making a huge jump and it will be interesting to see how this handsome hunk portrays a small town rustic lover boy. There is a lot of secrecy around Daawat-e-ishq with actors and directors giving out only a few tit-bits about the movie. However, with Habib Faisal at the helm and Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapoor playing lead characters, one can definitely expect a sudh desi romance with a tadka of comedy from Daawat-e-ishq. Don’t forget to catch it at Albion & Woodside cinemas as it releases on May 9, 2014.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might not be a popular face in Bollywood movies now, but she is still the most searched Indian woman on Google. According to an official statement, Bollywood actress and once Miss Universe, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has claimed the top position in the list of 20 most searched successful Indian woman on Google. The blue eyed lady has been followed by actress Vidya Balan and politician Sonia Gandhi in the list. The survey was conducted for Women’s Day and was based on a two-month analysis between January and February 2014 which revealed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, in spite of being out of touch with the glamour world, is still the most googled Indian woman. The survey stated that Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and Congress Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi were second and third respectively in the race while, former IPS Officer Kiran Bedi still bags a position among the 10 most searched Indian woman on Google. Although, the Bachchan family daughter-in-laws currently busy in taking care of her little baby Aaradhya, even the top Bollywood actresses have yet to surpass the popularity of gorgeous Aishwarya. Other influential lady personalities who were included in the list of 20 are badminton player Saina Nehwal, boxer Mary Kom, author Arundhati Roy, novelist Shobhaa De, politician Jayalalithaa, Mamata Banerjee, Sushma Swaraj, Nita Ambani, designer Ritu Kumar, actress Shabana Azmi, designer Neeta Lulla, Meera Nair, Ekta Kapoor, PepsiCo Cheif Indra Nooyi and Dimple Yadav.

Shilpa Shetty: For “Dishkiyaoon”, Shilpa and producer Sunil Lulla have risked their money on Harman Baweja, who has yet to give a hit, and newcomer Ayesha Khanna. Sunny Deol, whose stakes are not on the

rise right now, also stars in the film. They may be backing the wrong horse, but Shilpa seems to be confident and recently described the film as an “interesting masala entertainer on underworld”. She has even tried to up the glamour quotient by featuring in an item number for the film.

Pooja Bhatt: An actor to reckon with, Pooja, who proved her mettle with films like “Daddy”, “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin” and “Zakhm”, comes from a family of producers and directors and so the next natural step for her was to produce and direct. She started producing with “Tamanna” (1997) in which she was part

of the cast. Pooja, who produces under her banner Fisheye Network, has made about 10 films so far and out of them “Dushman”, “Zakhm”, “Jism”, and “Jism 2” set the cash registers ringing.

Ameesha Patel: She became an overnight sensation post the release of “Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai” and later repeated it with the success of “Gadar - Ek Prem Katha”. She

has also been part of box office successes like “Humraaz” and “Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd”, but later her career waned. Now she has turned producer and is trying to revive her sagging career with “Desi Magic”, which is being directed by Mehul Atha.

Dia Mirza: Model-turned-actress Dia has had her share of successes in hits like “Heyy Babyy”, “Shootout At Lokhandwala”,

“Parineeta” and “Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.” After the roles started drying up, she along with actor Zayed Khan launched her production house Born Free. Their first film was romantic comedy “Love, Breakups, Zindagi” (2011) and they played the lead role in it, but it tanked. Now Dia is trying to reboot with “Bobby Jasoos”, a spy-thriller centered on a female detective played by Vidya Balan. She is hoping “Bobby Jasoos” is loved by viewers.

Preity Zinta: Preity’s modeling and acting career has been pretty successful and thanks to hits like “Soldier” and “Kal Ho Naa Ho”,

she was a most sought after actress. When she tried her hand in business by becoming the co-owner of Kings XI IPL team (along with ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul) she did it with aplomb. But she burnt her fingers when she turned producer with “Ishkq In Paris” (2013), which saw a debacle at the box office despite her being in the female lead along with Rhehan Malliek.

Lara Dutta: A former beauty queen and star of hits like “No Entry” and “Partner”,

Lara floated her production house Bheegi Basanti with husband and tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi and they came up trumps at the box office with their maiden production venture “Chalo Dilli” (2011), which also received critical acclaim.

Hrishitaa Bhatt: She may have debuted opposite Shah Rukh Khan in “Asoka”, but Hrishitaa couldn’t climb higher on the

success ladder as an actress. When she turned producer with “Shakal Pe Mat Jaa” (2011), a comedy directed by Shubh Mukherjee, she met the same fate.

Sushimita Sen: The former Miss Universe announced in 2007 that she would delve

into production with English film “Jhansi Ki Rani”, but it was later shelved. If reports are to be believed she may revive it as she has completed the writing part.

Juhi Chawla: Another beauty-queen-turned-actress Juhi tried her hand at production by teaming up with her co-star Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Aziz Mirza to launch Dreamz Unlimited. They made

“Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani” (2000), a social satire that had Shah Rukh & Juhi in the lead roles, while Mirza helmed it. But the dream team’s first venture bombed.

Especially one towards the end where Arjun warns Alia about “punjabi mother-in-laws.” The film explores and exposes cultural stereotypes, and provides a few laughs while doing so. Few other themes that the film explores are college romance, young and newfound love, commitment, cultural differences and ideas of marriage in this day and age. Arjun Kumar said, “I got to know Alia Bhatt while working on our upcoming film. We hit it off immediately. She is a fantastic person, someone who I can call and talk to, and that is what friendship is about.” The music for the film has been composed by trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Given the strong publicity surrounding the film, the music to 2 States is bound to entice you. Off sung by Aditi Singh Sharma and Amitabh Bhattacharya. The song is a zestful and young, with electric guitar

beats and drums. Locha-E-Ulfat, which has been sung by Benny Dayal has a catchy bagpipe tune. The song is picturized on Arjun Kapoor and his dance moves. Mast Magan, a duet by Arijit Singh and Chinmayi Sripada is a romantic and passionate number. Iski Uski is performed by Akriti Kakar and Shahid Mallya. Chaandaniya, which has been sung by K. Mohan and Yashita Sharma, has a catchy composition. Hulla Re, sung by Shankar and Siddharth Mahadevan along with Rasika Shekhar has a Punjabi theme, which is full of typical Punjabi sounds such as the dhol drums, as well as cool Punjabi lyrics. Come watch 2 States at Albion, York and Woodside Cinema on starting April 18th!

The game-changing Serial ‘24’ is all set to go into Season 2. Yup, it’s time for Anil Kapoor to don the producer’s hat once again, even if it is to be done at the cost of his film offers. Apparently, Anil has 6 major film offers this year. But he is tempted to again give priority to ‘24’. Confirming his full-throttle plans for Season 2 Anil says, “My entire team is into pre-production. Only my own dates need

to be worked out. I am in a bit of a fix.” Last year, Anil said no to all movie offers in order to focus on ‘24’. This year, the movie offers have piled up but Anil is in the mood for Season 2 of the series. Confesses the director, “There are quite a number of tempting film offers, but I haven’t said yes to them as yet. I need to work out my dates for Season 2 of ‘24’. That’s a commitment I’ve made to myself. As a movie actor I’ve seen and done it all. Television is a new medium for me. And it’s very exciting.” So would Anil end up doing no films in 2014? “I am already doing Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back. So I have a major film coming up this year. As for more movies, they would depend on how much time Season 2 of ‘24’ would need. You see, the first season was tougher

with the entire machinery and logistics of television being new to me. A lot of the production hassles would be automatically lessened this time,” reveals Anil excitedly. The one thing that is most certainly going to be seen in Season 2 of ‘24’ is the core cast of Anil Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Mandira Bedi. Rishi Kapoor and Jeetendra are likely to join the cast. “Let’s see how it goes. I am even more excited about Season 2,” reveals Anil who took a few days off this week to attend his brother Sanjay Kapoor’s brother-in-law’s wedding.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was invited by Oxford University to address the students. and now son Abhishek Bachchan is following suit. Junior AB has been invited as the keynote speaker at the London School of Economics for the Economic Forum for India 2014 conference. The function is supposedly being held at Holborn in London where the actor will be addressing the audience along with some other influential speakers from different fields. Abhishek who has always been a part of social and charitable recently even flagged off the half marathon for women on International Women’s Day in Mumbai.

Huge disparity in remuneration of male and female actors, says Priyanka Chopra "Big B has the energy level of a 22-year old" - Honey Singh

20 April 2014 | BollywoodMoviesOfTheMonth.com

The two of them finally shot a song together. And Yo Yo Singh can’t stop raving about the Big B. “It’s like being in a room filled with kinetic energy. Shooting with the Big B made me feel so old and inadequate. Not for a minute does he remind you of who he is. In fact I felt I was with someone much younger than me,” says Yo Yo who turns 31 this month. The song that Yo Yo sang and shot with the Big B was a promotional video for the Big B’s forthcoming release Bhootnath Returns. “I had to be very careful. It is okay to use casual trendy words for the younger stars. But the Big B is a mahaanayak, a star of stars. The lyrics couldn’t be even remotely irreverent,” says Yo Yo who says he spent sleepless nights being politically correct for the Big B. “It isn’t as if we decided to be prim and proper in the song. There is a great deal of masti in our number. Bachchan Saab likes to have fun with the young. But I had to exercise self-censorship for the first time because this was for Bachchan Saab, and it was going to be incorporated into a film targeted at children.” Yo Yo says this song with the Big B is Yo Yo’s final clean-up act. “’Lungi Dance’ became a rage with kids. Until then, I didn’t know I had a connection with kids. Before ‘Lungi Dance’ my music was being branded aggressive and raunchy. Mujhe koi farq nahin padta mere music ko kya label kiya logon ne. But I was naturally happy to know I connected with kids.” Laughs Yo Yo, “Bachchan Saab was the coolest and youngest one on our crew. Every time he came on the sets the energy level went up by many notches. When he left we actually felt the energy level drop. He has the energy level of a 22-year old.” The song was shot over two days. At the end of the shooting Yo Yo and his gang organized a party on the sets. Says the singer, “We had this huge

cake which said, ‘Thank You, Mr Amitabh Bachchan’ and we partied hard at the end of the song. Bachchan Saab has spoiled me. He is addictive. Everyone who works with him wants to do so again. Toh main kaun sa exception hoon? Yes, I’ve plans of doing more music with Big B.” Says Yo Yo, “The two biggest superstars of Bollywood are Bachchan Saab and Shah

Rukh bhai. I’ve worked with both now. And I’ve learned so much from both of them. Now I want to take our association to another level.” Yo Yo was in Dubai recently performing live with Shah Rukh. “We invited Dubai’s royal family on stage. Only Shah Rukh Bhai can pull off something like that. No one says no to him.”

Successful actress Priyanka Chopra, who has been part of hits like “Fashion”, “Barfi” and “Dostana”, said an actress’ fee may not be on par with her male counterpart, but she is hopeful that soon their remuneration will get better. When asked why there is disparity when it comes to sharing profits with actresses despite their having a sizeable contribution in a film’s success, Priyanka told reporters on the sidelines of FICCI Frames 2014: “I don’t think the contribution is as much. I think you have to give credit to the boys also.

“The films make about Rs.200 or Rs.300 crore and it has a lot to do with the boys. We (actresses) haven’t made that dent

into the box office as females as the boys have, and I am very hopeful because we have the kind of audience, which is ready to watch women-oriented films that will happen.” “Yes, there is a huge disparity in terms of remuneration, but there is also a big disparity in the kind of money that has been brought back by female actors so far. I am hoping we will soon be able to break that and may be remunerations will get better.” “No One Killed Jessica”, “Kahaani”, “The Dirty Picture and “Queen” are some of the recent women-centric films that have done brisk business at the box office. Priyanka, who attended the 15th edition of FICCI Frames 2013, was in conversation with Nidhi Razdan on women-centric films being made in showbiz. In her over a decade long career, the actress maintained a balance between parallel and masala films and has no qualms about being a Hindi film heroine. She said: “I am proud to be a Hindi film heroine. I am unapologetic about being a Hindi film heroine. I love Hindi cinema I love the blockbusters, but at the same time I also enjoy doing films like ‘Barfi’ and ‘Fashion’.” The actress, who is also into singing, feels that women are good at multi-tasking.“I have realized that women are good at multi-tasking and we do it really well. I was raised with music and I wanted to push myself and see what I can do. I am taking baby steps,” the 31-year-old said.

Generally, the role of an assistant director (AD) comes early in the life of an aspiring Bollywood actor. The likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Sonam Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, all worked as ADs on other stars’ films, before they turned actors themselves. Deepika Padukone, who went from being a ramp model to an actor, however, seems willing to walk the road less taken. She is apparently so impressed with the script of Zoya Akhtar’s next (about a dysfunctional Punjabi family that goes on a luxury cruise together), that she says she wants to come on board in any capacity, even in a non-acting role. When Deepika was asked about it, she concedes that the storyline has floored her. “I love the script so much that I am

ready to work in any capacity on the film, including an assistant director (AD),” she says, with a smile. “But I don’t know if I can manage that (working as an AD).” The film stars Deepika’s alleged love interest, Ranveer Singh, besides Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Anil Kapoor. Has Deepika made her desire known to Zoya? “Not really… I’ve met her, but not talked about it (getting associated with the film),” says the actor, who has multiple big projects — such as Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan, Shoojit Sircar’s Piku with Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan, and Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny Fernandes — coming up this year.

Aamir Khan feels bollywood should be more careful with the way it portrays women as movies make a huge impact socially. The 49-year-old star said over the years he has become very careful about how gender dynamics are presented in his films. “I have become much more careful and sensitive. That process does not stop. It is a learning process. We have to really look how we are portraying women in our film industry,” he told women journalists at IWPC on the eve of Women’s Day. “I don’t know where to start, maybe take a small set of people because we are affecting minds. We have to look at that carefully,” he said. The actor joked that his activism often lands him in trouble with the people in Bollywood as he starts talking about social issues in showbiz parties. Aamir, who was in the city to share his experiences on the second season of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ with writer Swati Chakravarty, said working on the show has made him fragile as he cries more easily now. Talking about the research on the first episode, which centered around the topic of rape, he said they were shocked to find stories of apathy and inhumanity. “We were faced with such inhumanity that it was difficult to absorb it. It was a

ravaging period in the entire research,” he said, adding that the attempt has been to have a crisis center for rape victims, which will help them get swift justice. The actor said he is prepared to hear negative stories about the show as certain

people were bound to attack it. “There are people who are trying to take away our credibility. There are rumours but you have to be prepared for it. You have to hope that people at large will be able to see what is right and what is not and that they will go by logic,” Aamir said. The actor said he would never endorse a fairness cream brand and is aghast to see celebrities endorsing it. Talking about the recent ruling of the Supreme Court on Section 377 of IPC, that holds same gender sexual relationship an offence, Aamir said he was disappointed by it. “It was rather unfortunate. I was very surprised by the decision. Personally, I feel it’s really time that we moved forward and pursued equality for all,” he said. Aamir has now become more open to media following a difficult relationship in the past. “I think I went into a shell during 2006-07. I had nothing against media but I did not want to deal with it. I found them extremely intrusive. I found them to be very attacking. “It was a phase when TV channels were mushrooming and I think there was a struggle for readership space. It had become a vicious medium. I did not know how to react to it. I was being lashed from every side but things changed while working on Taare Zameen Par,” he added.

Based on Eastern mythology, the new supernatural adventure JINN will be unleashed in Toronto theaters on April 4 (4-4-14). Written and directed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad, the much-anticipated thriller stars Canadian actress Serinda Swan (Graceland), Faran Tahir (Iron Man, Elysium), and Ray Park (Star Wars Episode I). These types of special effects-driven thrillers are usually made by Hollywood directors so it is refreshing and uplifting to see a South Asian in this field. The exhilarating trailer has been viewed over 3,000,000 times on YouTube (watch it at JinnTheMovie.com). In addition to directing and editing the film, Ahmad also designed the 600 horsepower Firebreather car seen in the movie! Here is the synopsis - Shawn (Dominic Rains), an automotive designer, enjoys an idyllic life with his new wife Jasmine (Serinda Swan) until it is interrupted by a cryptic message. The message warns of imminent danger and a curse that has afflicted his family for generations. Having lost his parents as a child, Shawn doesn’t believe this unsettling revelation of his past….until strange things start to happen. Unable to explain the threats and fearing for his life, Shawn turns to Gabriel (Ray Park) and Father Westhoff (William Atherton), a mysterious duo claiming to have answers. With their help, and the aid of Ali (Faran Tahir), a shackled mental patient, Shawn discovers that there is far more to this world than he ever imagined. These revelations set Shawn on a collision course with the unknown, and he alone must find the strength to protect his family and confront the ancient evil that is hunting them. In the beginning, three were created. Man made of clay. Angels made of light. And a third, made of fire. Jinn are spiritual creatures etched in centuries of Eastern folklore, described in ancient texts around the world. While a singular definition does not exist, jinn are generally thought to inhabit a dimension beyond the visible universe of humans. They are mercurial beings, behaving as invisible observers with the ability to interfere in the affairs of man. Among the distinguishing elements of the jinn mythology is the fact that jinn aren’t easily separated into categories of good or evil. Jinn can be peaceful or wreak havoc, but they can also take on qualities between these extremes. Like humans, they are agents of free will, capable of establishing friends, families, communities and religions.

The primary distinction between jinn and man is that jinn are in possession of supernatural abilities. For example, they can perform actions like shape-shifting or moving rapidly through space and time. Because these attributes are deemed supernatural by man, jinn have been intertwined with many of the world’s mysteries, and are often implicated in ephemera humans are at a loss to explain. In brief, jinn are responsible for virtually all that goes bump in the night! Visit JinnTheMovie.com to watch the trailer and enter a contest to win an Xbox or iPad! Catch JINN in theaters on April 4.

The last time he had a trio of releases in one year was in 2009 with Wanted, Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and London Dreams. Ever since, Salman Khan has only had a couple of releases every year. This year too, he has had brother Sohail Khan’s Jai Ho, and will be seen next in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick. But in 2015, the Dabangg star will have three dates with his fans. To start with, he will reclaim the Eid weekend with Kabir Khan’s yet-untitled film. Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, opposite Sonam Kapoor, will succeed that and the third one, in all likelihood, will be Anees Bazmee’s No Entry Mein Entry. “Instead of July-August, we will now start the film’s shooting from December onwards, but we are yet to fix a release date,” says the No Entry (2005) sequel’s producer Boney Kapoor. Trade experts, however, aren’t too kicked about Salman’s hat-trick. “Overexposure is never good for any actor, especially a big star. How many times can you watch the same star in a year? With three releases, he will be in the public eye throughout 2015, thanks to the extensive promotional blitzkrieg on TV and city tours, in addition to the films being screened in theatres. Due to this, a star’s magic and mystery fade away” says trade expert Taran Adarsh.

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone has never hidden her relationship status. She recently admitted that she cried a lot after her break up with her former boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. However, she is not sure if she wants to get back together with him. Speaking to reporters, the leggy lass said that both Ranbir and she have moved on in their lives. However, she said the breakup taught her many things and made her realize that she should not be very attached to anyone or anything in life. She finds herself to be a better and more mature person and thanks Ranbir for that. That said, she admits that she does not want to rush into things with her current beau Ranveer Singh. She wants to give it time to know him better as a person.
