April, 20032003 NHRA national event entry/grading information

Due to the growing numbers of contestants, constraints on pit space, andscheduling time, a certain criteria must be met before a contestant may enter anNHRA national event. The NHRA grading system determines who gains entry tothe national events and subsequently rewards national event aspirants who supportdivisional activity.

A driver receives one (1) grading point for attending a divisional NHRALucas Oil Drag Racing Series event or National Open event – PowerAde Seriesnational events do not count towards grade points. The grading points earned ineither the previous year or the current year (whichever is greater) stand as thedriver's "grade" – grade points are not combined.

Kansas City Int’lRaceway gets a facelift

The NHRA Division 5member track is undergoing anumber of upgrades, includingadditions of concrete walls, starting-line concrete from the burnout box tothe 330-foot mark, and fresh asphaltfor the remaining quarter-mile tracksurface and shutdown area and forthe return and turnoff roads.

NHRA Adjusts policy

for single class

contestants

The NHRA CompetitionCommittee has announced a change toNHRA’s policy regarding single entrantsin class eliminations at NHRA nationalevents. Super Stock and Stock racerswho are not challenged during classeliminations by a like-classed racer mustrun a minimum of .5-second under theclass index during class eliminations orqualifying at the event to be eligible fora class win and associated awards. Thischange will go into effect at the NHRASummitRacing.com Nationals in LasVegas April 3-6.
