Congratulations to one of Shee Atiká’s scholarship recipients, Shae Anita Gamble! Shae graduated from Washington State University (WSU) on
December 7th, 2013. Shae graduated with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 and received a B.A. in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in Intercultural Communications. She also graduated with minors in Psychology and Sports Management.
As an Alaskan Native from the Tlingit tribe, she took an interest in learning about her roots and the Native American culture in general. To do so, she wanted to get more involved with WSU’s Native American campus organizations. During her time at WSU, she was involved in the Council for Multicultural Student Presidents, the Committee Square under Associated Students of Washington State University (ASWSU), and worked for the Washington State Athletics ticket office.
For the past two years, Shae has been involved with the Native American Student Organization, also known as the ASWSU Ku-Ah-Mah and the Native American Women’s Association. She was the President for both Ku-Ah-Mah and the Native American Student Organization.
“My Grandmother, Anita Wright, and Uncle Tom Gamble from Sitka, Alaska were able to attend the graduation and Tom gifted me a seal and sea otter scarf that I was able to wear at the ceremony. I was also gifted an Eagle feather from my Umitillia/Nez Perce, the Hall family (Andrea, Peyton, KK, Devon, Dreux). Go Cougs!”
