APSEA at a Glance October 2019 October 26: My Sister’s House Presents a Run for A Safe Haven For 15 years, the Run for a Safe Haven has been one of the primary fundraisers for My Sister’s House, a non-profit that serves Asian, Pacific Islander, and other underserved women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through job training, community services, and a safe haven. On Saturday, October 26, APSEA will once again have a team to participate in the Run for a Safe Haven. If you’d like to run or walk as part of the APSEA team, visit www.runforasafehaven.com. CDP Brown Bag Lunch The next CDP Brown Bag Lunch workshop will be on Wednesday, October 9 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in Natomas.

Ben Rogers from Alexan Innovation LLC will walk through how to structure and deliver engaging, successful presentations and will explain how to build, practice and hone skills based on the techniques of some of the greatest modern presenters such as Steve Jobs.

The audience will learn tips and tricks from these speakers and be able to apply them successfully in their future presentations and communications.

Volunteer Opportunity October 11 is the Front Street Animal Shelter’s Paws to Party event at the California Automobile Museum. Volunteers are needed to assist with cleanup and tears down from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If you have teens looking to satisfy their school's community service hours requirement, they may volunteer with you. Interested parties should RSVP by emailing: [email protected]

Conversation with Leaders APSEA Members are invited to attend a free networking and career development event on Wednesday, October 23 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Director Daniel Kim from the Department of General Services will provide the keynote on the importance of growing your professional network, to be followed by panel discussions with current and former state leaders.
