• Inspection and leak detection• Potable water pipelines of 50-300mm (2-12
inch) diameter, through live fire hydrants. • Up to 100m (300 feet) • Pressures of up to 16 bar (232psi)
• Internal inspection without disruption• Live-feed CCTV images • Real-time hydrophone data• High-powered sonde information• GPS tracking and plotting of leaks and
defects• Used for valve assessment

Case Study: Fast & Thorough Leak Detection
Water Company A Working in Collaboration with Contractor
Technology/Approach• Investigator™ is a push rod system up to 200m- 100m in either direction - camera, sonde,
hydrophone• Highly skilled team• Two units used by two gangs to accurately find leaks in difficult to access locations and where above
ground conditions cause issues
Results• Successful identification of leaks – 100%• Dry holes reduced- almost to zero as leak found within 30cm accuracy• Reduction of TMA and notices as access quick and via TBH or drilling saddle• Efficient - 5 different sites per day

Water Company B - Super Leakage Team- Contractor
Technology/Approach• Use of new technology to identify leaks – Investigator™• Specific technology critical to assist leakage gangs• Small, highly skilled team• Valve left open• Supply to different DMA• Small leakage on main 4 inch
Results• Leaks found estimated to be over 5 years old• Over 500m3 of water loss over 5 year period found in 6 months• Zero dry holes• DMA Water balance corrected
Case Study: Super Leakage Team

Case Study: Upskilled Workforce Provides Efficiencies
Water Company C use employee with technology
Technology/Approach• Technology- hydrant camera/ Investigator™
• Access through hydrant- TBH• No or little TMA• Provides solutions to pressure/discoloration and leakage issues
• Inspectors with knowledge of DMA• Use technology to understand local impacts if leakage gangs unsuccessful
Results• Upskilled with technology - provided training and technology to support existing team• Improved efficiency

Case Study: NRW - A “Smart” Approach
Water Company D needed to improve Non Revenue Water through Water Balance
Technology/Approach• Aquam above ground GPRS smart units on all standpipes that access hydrants• Use of existing standpipes – up skill with smart technology• Created an above ground network• Metered and non metered standpipes• Data captured every 15 mins and available at control centre - location, date and time, water used• Water consumption from access to hydrants daily, weekly, monthly, annually• Use on DMA assumptions• Can identify cause of network issues such as bursts and discoloration
Results• Improve data on water balance• Increase value of Non Revenue Water as accurately measured• Efficient use of leakage teams• Reduction of leakage

Wednesday, October 3, 2018:Inspection – Lodha Complex, Kanjur Village RdPipe Diameter: 150mmPipe Material: Ductile ironInsertion Tap: 50mm ball valvePressure: 20psiVelocity: N/A
Inspection Detail Points:Total distance inspected upstream: 43.8 metersTotal distance inspected downstream: 93.4 metersSimulated leak detected at 25.9 meters downstreamSimulated leak detected at 39.4 meters upstreamSensor head located using sonde at 37.6 meters and 20 meters
Full distance of the inspection was achieved downstream, total of 43.8 meters was achieved upstream due to the bend configuration and the tuberculation in the bends.
