  • Project Purpose & Aim Research supports positive outcomes for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) who participate in aquatic exercise No current information in literature to help persons with multiple sclerosis find an aquatic exercise program that fits their needs Develop a problem solving workbook for persons with multiple sclerosis to use in the community to find and participate in aquatic exercise programs Workbook is intended for those with MS who are able to independently transfer themselves between surfaces and/or ambulate with assistive devices

  • Project Implementation Workbook contains four main sections Background Information Feedback from first evaluation Goal Setting Can be key factor in aquatic exercise participation Personal Considerations & Facility Investigation Self efficacy principles and scale creation Problem Solving Worksheet 4 step problem solving process

  • Outcomes/Evaluation Results Results suggest that the learning outcomes were met after the completion of the workbook Participants reported increased knowledge about aquatic exercise, contraindications for participation, types of questions to ask facilities before participating Participants felt more confident in their ability to problem solve difficulties and find an aquatic exercise program that was right for them
