Finian’s Rainbow – Synopsis
This is the story of Finian McLonergan and his daughter Sharon who leave Ireland to become part of the mythical land of Missatucky, in America. Missatucky is situated close to Fort Knox, and Finian’s plan is to become a millionaire by burying a “borrowed” pot of Leprechaun gold in Missatucky and letting it grow.
The poor of Missatucky are sharecroppers who grow tobacco. The ruling aristocracy of the area is Senator Rawkins who is a “southern politician” and believes there should be a major separation between the rich and the poor. The story continues showing Finian as a truly conniving Irishman who enjoys life with the pot of gold, and does everything he can to keep it away from the Leprechaun “Og” who followed him from Ireland. Until the day comes when he needs that Leprechaun to save his daughter and her new husband. There is magic, anger, some tears and a lot of truly Irish fun, song and dance in the story, with memorable characters played by a fantastic cast.
