Arabian Hotel Investment Conference 2012
Page 1 of 13 www.arabianconference.com
Welcome to AHIC 2012! We are excited to present you with the programme for the eighth Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC). The topics for 2012 centre around providing intelligence on the key challenges in the market, such as securing finance, the impact of the Arab Spring on investor sentiment and hotel performance, intelligence for new owners and investors on how to avoid costly mistakes on their hotel and commentary on how Egypt will rebuild its tourism industry from the country’s most influential developer Samih Sawiris .
AHIC also focuses on delivering the intelligence to assist your business seize the opportunities present in the market. There are two sides to every coin, while some markets have had double digit drops in demand and occupancy rates across 2011, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have seen growth in demand of 20.2% and 11.3% respectively according to STR Global’s year on year figures.
Although Saudi Arabia is the market which arguably demonstrates the most short term potential for growth in the region, it also remains an enigma for many looking to do business inside the Kingdom. Our ‘Saudi Arabia Symposium’ aims to assist you in capitalising on the opportunities the Kingdom has to offer.
Given the significant political and economic changes both within the region and in Europe over the last 12 months, a key issue for investors and business leaders is how to cope with and plan for uncertainty within their business strategy. We are delighted as part of AHIC to host a workshop which aims to give you the tools to evaluate and plan for likely scenarios rather than leaving your business open to the unknown.
It has clearly been a time of change for the region and everyone is looking for ways to adapt. The key being adapting rather than cut back, at this point market intelligence such as that provided at AHIC is crucial. Our keynote Nenad Pacek who works with over 100 multinationals, paints the competitive landscape as such; “Corporations have no choice but to continue to increase their presence in those MENA markets that offer best returns in the next couple of years. Competition is heating up so intensely that only those firms with strong internal infrastructure, capabilities and competencies on the ground in MENA will manage to outperform competition in the future.” Join us at AHIC to learn from industry leaders how to adapt to the changing regional landscape, form the partnerships needed to grow and find out ways to innovate your business strategy from those at the forefront of their fields.
We look forward to seeing you at AHIC 2012!

Benefits AHIC really is the must attend event for the hotel investment industry in the Middle East. It provides a platform for operators, financiers, investors, developers and consultants all focused on the hotel sector to come together annually and do business. AHIC is the place where deals are signed, brands are launched, investors come to update their address books and gain market insight. The hotel investment landscape has altered dramatically over the last 18 months. At AHIC the industry comes together to share information and form partnerships to move forward, can you afford not to be part of it?
Networking Opportunities Spend three days learning, socialising and debating with the leaders of the hotel investment industry. AHIC is genuinely one of only a handful of events in the world and certainly the only event in the Middle East that brings together the hotel investment industry at such a senior level. Further your knowledge and contact base by tapping into the leading operators, financiers, investors, developers and consultants all in the one place at the one time. Over the course of AHIC you will not only have numerous opportunities to make connections but also to follow up on them through our range of networking events.
• Start the three days off with a round of golf with fellow delegates at the lovely Al Badia Golf Course • Join in our ‘Innovation through Collaboration Brainstorming Sessions’ -‐ allowing you to meet and
share ideas with fellow attendees ahead of the start of conference sessions. A great icebreaker and source of industry knowledge.
• Make connections in a relaxed environment at the opening reception while enjoying the sumptuous hospitality of the Jumeirah Group.
• Network over 12 hours of networking time, an ideal opportunity to meet new contacts and build on existing relationships.
• Be treated by Jebel Ali International Hotels to a cruise down Dubai Creek while networking with the who’s, who of the hotel investment industry. A great opportunity to follow up on connections made over the pre-‐ceding two days.
